François Langelier
Sir François Langelier, (24 December 1838 – 8 February 1915) was a Canadian lawyer, professor, journalist, politician, the tenth Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, and author. He was born in Sainte-Rosalie, Lower Canada (now Quebec) and died in Spencer Wood, Sillery, Quebec. In 1871, he was an unsuccessful candidate to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Bagot. A Liberal, he was elected in an 1873 by-election for the riding of Montmagny. He was defeated in 1875 but was re-elected in 1878 for the riding of Portneuf. He was Commissioner of Crown Lands and Provincial Treasurer from 1878 to 1879. He was defeated in 1881. From 1880 to 1890, he was a municipal councillor in Quebec City and was mayor from 1882 to 1890. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada for Mégantic in an 1884 by-election, after the results for the 1882 election were declared void. Benjamin Rogers (August 7, 1837 – May 16, 1923) was a merchant and political figure in Prince Edward Island. He was a member of the Legislative Council of Prince Edward Island from 1878 to 1893 and represented 1st Prince in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1893 to 1897 and from 1900 to 1904 as a Liberal member. He was the ninth Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island from 1910 to 1915. He was born in Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, the son of Joseph Rogers, who had emigrated from Wales. Rogers was an export merchant. He also served as a justice of the peace and Commissioner of Small Debts. In 1862, he married Susannah Abell Hubbard. John Morison Gibson
Sir John Morison Gibson (January 1, 1842 – June 3, 1929) was a Canadian politician and the tenth Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. Biography John Morison Gibson, the son of Scottish immigrants, was born in 1842, in Toronto. He grew up on a farm in Caledonia, Ontario, went to Hamilton Central School, in Hamilton, and went on to be educated at the University of Toronto, as a lawyer. In 1860 he joined the university company of the 2nd Battalion Volunteer Militia of The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada and was a Wimbledon marksman in 1874. He became a company director and developed a keen interest in music and art. On his return to Hamilton in 1864, he enlisted in the 13th Battalion as an ensign. In 1866, he was a lieutenant in the 13th Battalion, and fought at the Battle of Ridgeway, defending against the Fenian raids. James Drummond McGregor
James Drummond McGregor (1 September 1838 – 4 March 1918) was a Canadian businessman, politician, and the tenth Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, the son of Roderick MacGregor and Janet Chisholm, both of Scottish descent, he was mayor of New Glasgow from 1879 to 1880. In 1867, MacGregor married Elizabeth McColl. He represented Pictou County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1890 to 1894 and from 1897 to 1900. MacGregor married Roberta Ridley in 1894. In 1900, he ran unsuccessfully for the House of Commons of Canada in the riding of Pictou. MacGregor was appointed to the Senate of Canada in 1903 representing the senatorial division of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. A Liberal, he resigned in 1910 when he was appointed lieutenant governor of Nova Scotia. He served until 1915. MacGregor died in New Glasgow at the age of 79.
