Bryn Railway Station
Bryn railway station is a railway station serving the suburb of Bryn in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Greater Manchester, England. The station is situated on the electrified Liverpool–Wigan line northeast of Liverpool Lime Street and south of Wigan. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Northern Trains. Facilities The station is the only unstaffed one on the Huyton-to-Wigan line, being outside the Merseytravel area (but within that of Transport for Greater Manchester). Ticket machines have recently been installed on both platforms. The old station buildings shown in the caption have since been demolished and were replaced by basic waiting shelters. Digital display screens and timetable poster boards on each side provide train running information. Step-free access is provided only on the Wigan-bound platform. Bryn, Greater Manchester
Bryn is a component ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. It is part of the larger town of Ashton-in-Makerfield and is geographically indistinguishable from it, but forms a separate local council ward. The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 11,662. Served by Bryn railway station, Bryn is home to the Three Sisters Recreation Area which has been created from three large spoil tips which remain from Bryn's role in Lancashire's coal mining past. The recreation area is also the site of the Three Sisters Race Circuit, which provides race driving instruction and plays host to kart racing events and motorcycle road race meetings at clubman level. Merseytravel is the passenger transport executive, responsible for the coordination of public transport in the Liverpool City Region in North West England. Merseytravel was established on 1 December 1969 as the Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive. Wigan North Western railway station is one of two railway stations serving the town centre of Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. It is a moderately-sized station on the West Coast Main Line. It is operated by Avanti West Coast, and is also served by Northern Trains. Garswood railway station serves the village of Garswood in the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens, Merseyside, England. St Helens Central railway station (previously known as St. Helens Shaw Street) is a railway station serving the town of St Helens, Merseyside, England. It is on the Liverpool to Wigan Line from Liverpool Lime Street to Wigan North Western. The station and all trains calling at it are operated by Transpennine Express or Northern Trains.
