British Forces Gibraltar is the British Armed Forces stationed in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar. Gibraltar is used primarily as a training area, thanks to its good climate and rocky terrain, and as a stopover for aircraft and ships ''en route'' to and from deployments East of Suez or in Africa. The Pacific 24 is a rigid inflatable boat made by BAE Systems in the UK, one of a range of small boats made by the company. it was the latest Pacific craft within the BAE Halmatic range, and has been proven in service with the UK MOD, UK police and overseas military and paramilitary organisations. It was designed to replace the Pacific 22. An uncrewed version of the boat, controlled from a parent Navy ship, has been developed, entering tests in 2020; a few boats may ultimately be deployed for special missions, or a whole fleet ordered. Windmill Hill (Gibraltar)
Windmill Hill or Windmill Hill Flats is one of a pair of plateaux, known collectively as the Southern Plateaux, at the southern end of the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. It is located just to the south of the Rock of Gibraltar, which descends steeply to the plateau. Windmill Hill slopes down gently to the south with a height varying from at the north end to at the south end. It covers an area of about , though about at the north end is built over. The plateau is ringed to the south and east with a line of cliffs which descend to the second of the Southern Plateaux, Europa Flats, which is itself ringed by sea cliffs. Both plateaux are the product of marine erosion during the Quaternary period and subsequent tectonic uplift. Buffadero Battery was an artillery battery in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. It is located on Windmill Hill. Description Buffadero was the name of a village where people lived at the south end of Gibraltar before World War II. According to the Royal Engineers, Buffadero is possibly an anglicized corruption derived from the Spanish "bufido", which means "blowing" or "snorting", or it might be of Genoese origin as many Genoese workmen had been employed in Gibraltar. The Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) is a naval auxiliary fleet owned by the UK's Ministry of Defence. It provides logistical and operational support to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
