Bofills Båge
Bofills Båge (Swedish: "Bofill's Crescent") is a residential building on Södermalm, Stockholm, Sweden, at . The building was designed by the Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill and constructed between 1991 and 1992. The building complex is formed by the crescent-shaped building with a diameter of 180 metres, along with a total of five smaller apartment buildings. The complex contains about 300 apartments, shops, offices and underground parking space. It forms part of a large urban redevelopment where the old southern railyard was converted into city blocks mainly with housing developments. The Crescent is flanked by Söder Torn, a residential highrise building designed by Henning Larsen. In the architect's words, "The crescent façade is of simple, pure lines in accordance with traditional Nordic architecture." The architecture of Stockholm has a history that dates back to the 13th century, possibly even earlier. According to some sources, there might have been a simple defense structure, perhaps a small castle, on the northeast part of the island Stadsholmen. A crescent shape (, ) is a symbol or emblem used to represent the lunar phase in the first quarter (the "sickle moon"), or by extension a symbol representing the Moon itself. In Hinduism, Lord Shiva is often shown wearing a crescent moon on his head symbolising that the lord is the master of time and is himself timeless. Henning Larsen
Henning Larsen, Hon. FAIA (20 August 1925 – 22 June 2013) was a Danish architect. He is internationally known for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Riyadh and the Copenhagen Opera House. Larsen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, from which he graduated in 1952. He continued studies subsequently at the Architectural Association School of Architecture and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His mentors included Arne Jacobsen and Jørn Utzon. Larsen founded an architectural firm that bears his name, Henning Larsen Architects (formerly Henning Larsens Tegnestue A/S). From 1968 to 1995, he was a professor of architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Söder Torn
South Tower (Swedish: " Söder Torn") is a high-rise building located on Fatburstrappan 18, next to Fatbursparken on Södermalm in Stockholm. The building has a height of about above the ground including the "crown" and consists of 25 floors. The Söder Torn complex contains three additional buildings, including one that abuts Medborgarplatsen. Collectively, the buildings contain 172 condominium apartments and 5 businesses. The South Tower itself has 85 apartments and one business. A garage contains parking for both cars and motorcycles. Stockholm South, ''Stockholms södra'', Stockholm S, locally known as ''Södra Station'' (Southern Station) is a railway station in Södermalm, Stockholm, Sweden. The Stockholm South railway station was originally opened in the year 1860, and was originally the northern terminus of the Västra Stambanan railway line until the construction of Stockholm Central Station (Stockholm C). The 1860 building was replaced with a new building in 1926.
