Jean Eugène Bataillon
Jean Eugène Bataillon (22 October 1864 – 1 November 1953) was a French zoologist who studied embryology, fertilization and development. Bataillon was born in Annoire, Jura, son of a stonemason and chose not to follow studies leading to a religious career and went to the Collège d’Arbois and studied philosophy while teaching at the Belfort lycée. He then studied in Lyons studying under Fernand Arloing. He became an assistant in zoology at the University of Lyons in 1887 and trained under Laurent Chabry Laurent Chabry was a French biologist. He was born in 1855 in the small city of Roanne, Loire, and died on November 23, 1894, in the city of Riorges. He obtained a PhD of medicine in 1881 and a PhD of science in 1887. He was then director of the .... His doctoral thesis was on the metamorphosis of amphibians (1891). He then joined the faculty as a lecturer in zoology at Lyons and moved to Dijon the next year. Joseph Francis Bataillon (born October 3, 1949) is a senior United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. Education and career Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Bataillon received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Creighton University in 1971 and a Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law in 1974. Bataillon was a deputy public defender, Douglas County, Nebraska from 1974 to 1980. He was in private practice in Omaha from 1980 to 1997. Federal judicial service On January 7, 1997, Bataillon was nominated by President Bill Clinton to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska vacated by Lyle E. Strom.
