Band Of The Royal Canadian Engineers
The Band of the Royal Canadian Engineers was a Canadian Army military band that served briefly for 15 years from 1953 to 1968. During its entire existence, it was based in Chilliwack, British Columbia. It was the premier band in the RCE, having precedence over other small unit bands such as the Band of the 48th Squadron (active today as the Dutchmen Senior Drum & Bugle Corps). It was established at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering and primarily recruited from a mix of Canadian nationals as well as musicians from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Hungary. It has performed for members of the Canadian royal family as well as Governors General of Canada. In September 1964, the band performed during the arrival of U.S. President Lyndon B. The Canadian Military Engineers (CME; french: links=no, Génie militaire canadien) is the military engineering personnel branch of the Canadian Armed Forces. The members of the branch that wear army uniform comprise the Corps of Royal Canadian Engineers (RCE; french: links=no, Corps du génie royal canadien). The mission of the Canadian Military Engineers is to contribute to the survival, mobility, and combat effectiveness of the Canadian Armed Forces. The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN; french: Marine royale canadienne, ''MRC'') is the naval force of Canada. The RCN is one of three environmental commands within the Canadian Armed Forces. The 15th Field Regiment (RCA) Band is one of five Reserve Force bands in the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, located at Bessborough Armoury in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is a brass and reed band that is part of the RCA's 15th Field Artillery Regiment. The Band of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals was a regimental military band in Canada based out of Canadian Forces Base Kingston in Ontario. It is a voluntary band, which means that its band members are not composed of full-time professional musicians. The band provided musical support for the community in the Kingston, Ontario metropolitan area as well as Ottawa– Gatineau. Outside of this band, the RCCS maintained multiple units bands, including the 2nd Division Trumpet Band, the 8th Division Trumpet Band and the Apprentice School Trumpet Band.
