Butler Bulldogs Men's Lacrosse
The Butler Bulldogs are the sport, athletic teams that represent Butler University, located in Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Indiana. The Bulldogs participate in 20 NCAA Division I College athletics, intercollegiate sports. After leaving the Horizon League following the 2011–12 season, nearly all teams competed in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The football team is a founding member of the non-scholarship NCAA Division I Football Championship, Football Championship Subdivision (FCS)-level Pioneer Football League, Pioneer League. On March 20, 2013, the Butler administration announced that the school would join the Big East Conference, Big East, and moved to the new league July 1, 2013. Butler University is a private university in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. Founded in 1855 and named after founder Ovid Butler, the university has over 60 major academic fields of study within six colleges in the arts, business, communication, education, liberal arts and the sciences, and health sciences. It enrolls approximately 5,700 undergraduate and graduate students. Its campus is approximately north of downtown Indianapolis. History On January 15, 1850, the Indiana General Assembly adopted Ovid Butler's proposed charter for a new Christian university in Indianapolis.
