Business Leaders For Sensible Priorities
Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities (BLSP) was a US non-profit organization composed of 700 business leaders. It was founded by Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben and Jerry's. In late 2008, the organization became a project of the Center for American Progress (CAP) and was put under the direction of Krisila Benson. The campaign's goal was to shift taxpayer money away from military programs to social programs like education, healthcare, alternative energies and deficit reduction. The Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities was supported by retired generals, admirals and defense planners from Republican and Democratic administrations who urged cuts in American defense spending to provide funding for social and economic programs. Ben Cohen (businessman)
Bennett Cohen (born March 18, 1951) is an American businessman, activist and philanthropist. He is a co-founder of the ice cream company Ben & Jerry's. Early life Cohen was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in the town of Merrick, New York, on Long Island by Jewish parents Frances and Irving. He spent at least one summer at Buck's Rock Performing and Creative Arts Camp in New Milford, Connecticut. Cohen first met and befriended his future business partner Jerry Greenfield in a seventh grade gym class in 1963. They continued on to Sanford H. Calhoun High School. In his senior year, Cohen found work as an ice cream man before leaving to attend Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. Paul Newman
Paul Leonard Newman (January 26, 1925 – September 26, 2008) was an American actor, film director, race car driver, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. BB Gun
A BB gun is a type of air gun designed to shoot metallic spherical projectiles called BBs (not to be confused with similar-looking bearing balls), which are approximately the same size as BB-size lead birdshot used on shotguns ( in diameter). Eight sovereign states have publicly announced successful detonation of nuclear weapons. Five are considered to be nuclear-weapon states (NWS) under the terms of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). Lawrence J. Korb (born July 9, 1939, in New York City) is a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and a senior adviser to the Center for Defense Information. He was formerly director of national security studies at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
