Brian Rafalski
Brian Christopher Rafalski (born September 28, 1973) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings, in the SM-liiga for HPK and HIFK, in the Elitserien for Brynäs IF, and in the ECHL for the Florida Everblades. After going undrafted, Rafalski spent four seasons in Europe - winning the Pekka Rautakallio trophy as best Liiga Defenseman in 1997, and 1999, the Finnish SM-liiga championship with HIFK in 1998, and the Kultainen kypärä ("the Golden Helmet") in 1999. After entering the NHL in 1999 as a free agent with the Devils, Rafalski played in five Stanley Cup Finals during the 2000s, his first three with the Devils and his last two with the Red Wings. New Jersey Devils
The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. The Devils compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. The club was founded as the Kansas City Scouts in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974. The Scouts moved to Denver in 1976–77 NHL season, 1976 and became the Colorado Rockies (NHL), Colorado Rockies. In 1982–83 NHL season, 1982, they moved to East Rutherford, New Jersey, and took their current name, which is derived from the legendary Jersey Devil creature. Kultainen Kypärä
Kultainen kypärä () is an ice hockey award given by the Suomen jääkiekkoilijat ry (SJRY; ) to the best player in the Finnish Liiga and Auroraliiga. Winners are selected via votes cast by each league's players. Kultainen kypärä has been awarded in the Liiga since 1987, and in the Auroraliiga since 2022. In addition, a long running tradition by Veikkaus is for the current best scorer of a Liiga team to carry a golden helmet, also called kultainen kypärä or kultakypärä. The player that plays the most games carrying the golden helmet that also is in the top 20 of the league's scoreboard by the end of the regular season is awarded with €10,000 by Veikkaus. The men's tournament in ice hockey at the 2006 Winter Olympics was held in Turin, Italy, from 15 to 26 February. Twelve teams competed, with Sweden winning the gold medal, Finland winning silver, and the Czech Republic winning bronze. It was the third Olympic tournament to feature National Hockey League (NHL) players and the tenth best-on-best hockey tournament in history. The United States men's national ice hockey team represents the United States in men's international ice hockey. The team is controlled by USA Hockey, the governing body for organized ice hockey in the United States. The U.S. team is currently ranked 6th in the IIHF World Rankings. The Stanley Cup () is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup playoffs, playoff champion.
