Brenda López De Arrarás
Brenda López de Arrarás (born April 25, 1971) is a Puerto Rican politician. She was a member of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Representatives from 2009 until 2021, and is affiliated to the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) and served as the party's vice president. She was the first woman, who reached that position, unanimously elected. Early years and studies Brenda López was born on April 25, 1971, in Arecibo, but was raised in Utuado. Her father was a former member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives for District 22. She completed her elementary and high school studies in Utuado. López then completed a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras graduating in 1993. After completing her bachelor's degree school, López de Arrarás entered the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Law in Ponce, Puerto Rico and reached Juris Doctor degree in 1996. ''El Nuevo Día'' (English: ''The New Day'') is the newspaper with the largest circulation in Puerto Rico. It is considered mainstream and the territory's newspaper of record. It was founded in 1909 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and today it is a subsidiary of GFR Media. Its headquarters are in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. José Enrique Arrarás
José Enrique Arrarás Mir (born 25 September 1937) is a Puerto Rican politician and former member of the Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico. Early life Arrarás was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. He obtained his primary and secondary education at Academia de la Inmaculada Concepción in Mayagüez and Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. Arrarás is great-great-grand-nephew of , and a third-cousin of Charytín Goyco. Education He obtained a B.A. in Public and International Affairs (magna cum laude) at Princeton University in 1959. Puerto Rican General Election, 2008
General elections were held in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, to elect the officials of the government that would serve for the next four years, most notably the Governor of Puerto Rico. The gubernatorial election was won by incumbent Resident Commissioner Luis Fortuño of the New Progressive Party (PNP), who defeated incumbent governor Aníbal Acevedo Vilá of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) by 53% to 41%. Most other positions were won by PNP candidates, with Pedro Pierluisi winning the election for Resident Commissioner, and the party winning a majority of seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives. The elections occurred after one term of what was called "shared government", as a result of the 2004 elections.
