This is a listing of the horses that finished in either first, second, or third place and the number of starters in the Breeders' Cup Distaff, a Graded stakes race, Grade I race for fillies and mares, three years old and up. An annual race run on the dirt, it was the final race of the first-day (Friday) card of the Breeders' Cup, Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships since 2008. In 2018, it was returned to the Saturday card. The race, which has been run in every Breeders' Cup since the first event in 1984, was known as the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic between 2008 and 2012. Breeders' Cup Distaff
The Breeders' Cup Distaff is a Weight for Age Thoroughbred horse race for fillies and mares, 3 years old and up. Known as the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic between 2008 and 2012, it is held annually at a different racetrack in the United States or Canada as part of the Breeders' Cup World Championships. It is the top ranked race for fillies and mares in North America, and often decides the title for champion three-year-old and / or champion older filly or mare. Starting with the 2008 Breeders' Cup, the Distaff was the final race on the first day (Friday) of the two-day event. In 2018, it was returned to the Saturday card. My Miss Aurelia
My Miss Aurelia (foaled 16 March 2009) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year-old in 2011, she was unbeaten in four races including the Adirondack Stakes, Frizette Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and was voted American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly at the Eclipse Award. After missing the early part of the following season through injury she took her winning run to six with two more victories including a win over Questing in the Cotillion Stakes. She sustained her first defeat when second to Royal Delta in the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic and was beaten in her only subsequent race that year. She finished third on her only appearance as a four-year-old and was retired in September 2014 to Stonestreet Farm. Ashado
Ashado (foaled February 4, 2001 in Kentucky) is an American Thoroughbred horse racing, racemare whose seven Grade I horserace, Grade I wins included the 2004 Breeders' Cup Distaff. She won Eclipse Awards as the Champion Three-Year-Old Filly of 2004 and Champion Older Female of 2005, and was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2014. At the end of the 2005 racing season, her owners sold her at the Keeneland Sales November auction for $9 million, a world-record price for a broodmare/broodmare prospect. Pleasant Home, also known as the John Farson House, is a historic home located in the Chicago suburb of Oak Park, Illinois, United States. The large, Prairie style mansion was designed by architect George Washington Maher and completed in 1897. The house was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on June 19, 1972. Exactly 24 years later, in 1996, it was declared a National Historic Landmark by the United States Department of the Interior.. Round Pond (foaled May 21, 2002) is a retired American Thoroughbred racehorse. A two-time Eclipse Award finalist, she is best known for winning the 2006 Breeders' Cup Distaff. Octave (foaled April 13, 2004, in Kentucky) is an American thoroughbred racehorse. She was sired by Unbridled's Song, who in turn was a son of 1990 Kentucky Derby winner Unbridled out of the Dr. Carter mare Belle Nuit. Her only win as a two-year-old came in the Adirondack Breeders' Cup Stakes. She placed second to Dreaming of Anna in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in 2006. Then Octave placed second to Rags to Riches in the Kentucky Oaks the following spring and finished second in the Fair Grounds Oaks and the Ashland Stakes. Background Bred in Kentucky by Abbott Properties, Hystericalady is the best daughter of the leading sire Distorted Humor, the sire of the dual Classic winning gelding Funny Cide. Zenyatta (foaled April 1, 2004) is a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the Breeders' Cup Classic and Breeders' Cup Distaff and 19 of her 20 starts. She was the 2010 American Horse of the Year, and Champion Older Female in 2008, 2009 and 2010. She was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2016. Zenyatta was purchased as a yearling by record producer Jerry Moss and his wife Ann, who named her after the album ''Zenyatta Mondatta'', by the Police, who were signed to A&M Records by Moss.
