Bodo People's Progressive Front
Bodo People's Progressive Front ( BPPF) is a political party in Assam, India, formed on 12 April 2005 for participation in the Bodoland Territorial Areas District elections. Split The party suffered a vertical split into BPPF(R) with Rabiram Narzary and BPPF(H) with Hagrama Mohilary, the then supremo of the dissolved Bodo Liberation Tigers Force as the Party President respectively. BPPF(H) The Hagrama faction aligned with the Indian National Congress in the April 2006 elections for the Assam Assembly and won 11 seats. It became the junior partner in the Assam government. This was a historical occasion since the Bodo's, long associated with the Bodoland statehood movement, are now sharing power in Dispur, the capital of Assam. BPPF(R) The Rabiram faction, aligned with the Asom Gana Parishad in the April 2006 elections, did not win any seats in the Assam Assembly. Bodoland Territorial Areas District
The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is an autonomous division in Assam, India, and a proposed state in Northeast India. It is made up of five districts on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River below the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. It is administered by an elected body known as the Bodoland Territorial Council which came into existence under the terms of a peace agreement signed in February 2003 and its autonomy was further extended by an agreement signed in January 2020. The region covers an area of over nine thousand square kilometres and is predominantly inhabited by the Bodo people and other tribal communities of Assam. Bodo Liberation Tigers Force
The Bodo Liberation Tigers Force (Abbreviation, abbreviated BLTF), also known as the Bodo Liberation Tigers (abbreviated BLT), was an armed militant group that operated in the Bodo people, Bodo-dominated regions of Assam, India. The BLTF was founded on 18 June 1996 by Prem Singh Brahma and Hagrama Mohilary. Hagrama Mohilary was the chief of the outfit. The group initially wanted to carve out a separate autonomy of Bodoland in Assam, but surrendered with the establishment of Bodoland Territorial Council, an upgrade of the Bodo Autonomous Council. The leaders of the BLT, together with the leaders of the All Bodo Students' Union, formed a political party called Bodo People's Progressive Front. Asom Gana Parishad (translation: ''Assam People's Council'', AGP) is a political party in the state of Assam, India. The AGP was formed following the historic Assam Accord of 1985 and formally launched at the Golaghat Convention held from 13 to 14 October 1985 in Golaghat, which also allowed Prafulla Kumar Mahanta who was the youngest chief minister of the state to be elected. The AGP has formed government twice once in 1985 then again in 1996. The popularity of AGP surged in the late 1980s but declined in the 2000s. After a 20-year gap, AGP, in alliance with National Democratic Alliance (India), NDA, won a Lok Sabha seat in 2024.
