Spindletop
Spindletop is an oil field located in the southern portion of Beaumont, Texas, in the United States. The Spindletop dome was derived from the Louann Salt evaporite layer of the Jurassic geologic period. On January 10, 1901, a well at Spindletop struck oil ("came in"). Baba Gurgur
Baba Gurgur (Arabic: بابا كركر, ) is an oil field and gas flame near the city of Kirkuk, which was the first to be discovered in Northern Iraq in 1927. It was considered the largest oil field in the world until the discovery of the Ghawar field in Saudi Arabia in 1948. Cabimas
Cabimas is a city on the shore of Maracaibo Lake in Zulia State in northwestern Venezuela. In 2005, its population was around 200,859. Before 1900, Venezuela was known to possess commercial quantities of petroleum. One major find was the ' Zumaque I' well in 1914, in the area of Mene Grande, about 50 miles (80 km) southeast of Cabimas.
