Blade Runner (franchise)
''Blade Runner'' is an American cyberpunk media franchise originating from the 1968 novel ''Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?'' by Philip K. Dick, featuring the character of Rick Deckard. The book has been adapted into several media, including films, comics, a stage play, and a radio serial. The first film adaptation was ''Blade Runner'', directed by Ridley Scott in 1982. Although the film initially underperformed at the American box office, it became a cult film, cult classic, and has had a significant influence on science fiction. A novelization and a comic adaptation of the film were released in the same year. From 1995 to 2000, three novels serving as sequels to both ''Blade Runner'' and the original novel were written by K. Philip, also Phillip, is a male name derived from the Macedonian Old Koine language, Greek (''Philippos'', lit. "horse-loving" or "fond of horses"), from a compound of (''philos'', "dear", "loved", "loving") and (''hippos'', "horse"). Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction in a dystopian futuristic setting said to focus on a combination of "low-life and high tech". ''Blade Runner: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'' is the soundtrack for Ridley Scott's 1982 science-fiction noir film ''Blade Runner'', composed by Greek electronic musician Vangelis. Blade Runner (1997 Video Game)
''Blade Runner'' is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Westwood Studios and published by Virgin Interactive for Microsoft Windows, released in November 1997. The game is not a direct adaptation of the 1982 Ridley Scott film '' Blade Runner'' but is instead a " sidequel", telling an original story, which runs parallel to the film's plot, occasionally intersecting with it. Set in 2019 Los Angeles, the game tells the story of Ray McCoy, an elite detective charged with hunting down a group of dangerous replicants (bioengineered androids designed to look and act like humans). ''Blade Runner'' is a 1985 shoot 'em up game loosely inspired by the 1982 film ''Blade Runner''. The game was published in 1985 by CRL Group PLC for Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC. Reviews of the game were mostly negative. Plot The plot of the game is similar to the associated movie. Replidroids (''sic'' for replicants), designed for use in space, have been banned from Earth following a revolt on a colony. The role of eliminating any replidroids found on earth is given to a unit of bounty hunters. Gameplay The game features the player character hunting down replicants for bounty money. On loading the game, the player has to listen to around two minutes of music from the movie soundtrack without any ability to skip the sequence.
