Bishop's Ward
Bishop's ward was an administrative division of the London Borough of Lambeth, United Kingdom, from 1965 to 2022 It was located in the north of the borough, bounded by the river Thames, and contained many well known London sites including the Southbank Centre, the London Eye, the Old and New Vic theatres, County Hall and Lambeth Palace. It also contained Waterloo station and St Thomas Hospital. Bishop's ward was located in the Vauxhall parliamentary constituency and is one of four wards in the borough's north Lambeth division. The Lambeth Council ''State of the Borough 2014'' report found that Bishop's was the least residential ward of the borough. It had the lowest ward population (10,600), with a low proportion of children – over 80% of residents are working age, with many born outside UK. Lambeth London Borough Council, which styles itself Lambeth Council, is the local authority for the London Borough of Lambeth in Greater London, England. It is a London borough council, one of the 32 in London. The council has been under Labour majority control since 2006. 2006 Lambeth London Borough Council Election
Elections to Lambeth London Borough Council were held on 4 May 2006. The whole council was up for election with no boundary changes since the last election in 2002. The Labour Party gained control of the council, replacing the Liberal Democrat and Conservative coalition that had run the council since the previous election. The election was notable for the Labour Party managing to win control of the borough despite a marginal fall in its overall percentage share of the vote. Labour taking Lambeth was also against the trend of the 2006 local election body elections which saw Labour lose control of 18 councils with a loss of 319 councillors. The 2014 Lambeth Council election was held on 22 May 2014 to elect members of Lambeth Borough Council in Greater London, England. Ibrahim Dogus (born July 1980) is a British Kurdish politician, entrepreneur and restaurateur. He is founder of SME4Labour. He is also founder of the Centre for Turkey Studies and Centre for Kurdish Progress, and an active organiser for the Turkish and Kurdish community in London and the UK. The 2018 Lambeth London Borough Council election took place on 3 May 2018 alongside other local elections in London, to elect members of Lambeth London Borough Council in England. South Bank
The South Bank is an entertainment and commercial area on the south bank of the River Thames, in the London Borough of Lambeth, central London, England. The South Bank is not formally defined, but is generally understood to be situated between County Hall in the west to the Oxo Tower on the borough boundary with Southwark, to the east. South Bank consists of a narrow strip of riverside land opposite the City of Westminster and adjoins the Albert Embankment to the west and Bankside in the London Borough of Southwark to the east. As such, the South Bank may be regarded as akin to the riverside part of an area known previously as Lambeth Marsh and North Lambeth.
