Bill Collins (television Presenter)
William Roderick Collins (4 December 1934 – 20 June 2019) was an Australian film critic and film historian, radio and television presenter, journalist, author and lecturer best known for presenting Cinema of the United States, Hollywood films on television in Australia. Collins specialised in the era of Classical Hollywood cinema, and his favourite film was ''Gone with the Wind (film), Gone with the Wind''. He was well known for his association with Network 10, presenting ''Bill Collins' Golden Years of Hollywood'' for fifteen years, and later with Foxtel, presenting movies on the cable channel FOX Classics from 1995 to 2018. Sutherland is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. David Stratton
David James Stratton (born 1939) is an English-Australian film critic and historian. He has also worked as a journalist, interviewer, educator, television personality, and producer. His career as a film critic, writer, and educator in Australia spanned 57 years, until his retirement in December 2023. Stratton's media career included presenting film review shows on television with Margaret Pomeranz for 28 years, writing film reviews for '' The Weekend Australian'' for 33 years, and lecturing in film history for 35 years. Early life and education Born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, in 1939, David James Stratton was sent to Hampshire to see out the war years with his grandmother. Margaret Pomeranz (born Margeret Anne Jones-Owen, 15 July 1944) is an Australian film critic, writer, producer, and television personality. Early life Pomeranz was born Margeret Anne Jones-Owen on 15 July 1944 in Waverley, a suburb of Sydney. She was educated at the Presbyterian Ladies' College, Sydney in Croydon, the then newly opened Macquarie University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German and social psychology, and the Playwright's Studio at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). In between her studies, she spent two-and-a-half years in Vienna, where she worked as a stringer for '' The Bulletin'' and ABC Rural Radio. John Hinde (broadcaster)
John Hamilton Hinde (26 October 1914 – 4 July 2006) was an Australian broadcaster and film reviewer. He worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) for more than 50 years, in both television and radio. Hinde was also one of Australia's first foreign correspondents, reporting from the Pacific Theater during World War II. Upon his death he left bequests to fund two awards: a literary prize in honour of his late wife, novelist Barbara Jefferis; and the John Hinde Award, for a science fiction script for film or television. Early life and education Born in 1914, Hinde grew up in Adelaide. He started studying medicine at the University of Adelaide, but dropped out and married. After a short-lived marriage he went first to Melbourne and later to Sydney. Ivan Joseph Hutchinson (11 February 1928 – 7 October 1995) was an Australian film critic, television personality and music director. Career Hutchinson was active in the Australian entertainment industry for more than 30 years, from the early 1960s until the mid-1990s, first on Melbourne-only programs for HSV-7 and later nationwide through the entire Seven Network. The Order of Australia is an Australian honours and awards system, Australian honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Monarchy of Australia, Queen of Australia, on the Advice (constitutional law), advice of then prime minister Gough Whitlam.
