Biathlon At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Women's Pursuit
The women's 10 km pursuit biathlon competition of the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics was held on 12 February 2018 at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The field consisted of the top 60 finishers in the sprint event, held two days earlier, with competitors' starting times dependent on their final time in the sprint event. Laura Dahlmeier, who was the champion in the sprint, won a second title, becoming the first female biathlete to win an Olympic sprint-pursuit double. Anastasiya Kuzmina finished second, and Anaïs Bescond was third. This was Bescond's first Olympic medal. Summary Dahlmeier started first, and hit all targets at her first prone shoots. The sprint silver medallist Marte Olsbu missed a target, and between the prone shoots Dalmeier was followed by Veronika Vítková and Anastasiya Kuzmina, who overtook Vítková, and by the second prone shoot closed the gap to Dahlmeier by 10 seconds. Alpensia Biathlon Centre
Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre () and Alpensia Biathlon Centre () are sport venues in the Alpensia resort, located in Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do (South Korea), Gangwon-do, South Korea. They are used for cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing and biathlon respectively. Each grandstand of the two venues is contiguous and similar in appearance. They also adjoin the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre, ski jumping hills. In the non-winter season, the venues are also used as golf courses named Alpensia 700. History The venues were first completed in December 1995. They were called several names, which roughly mean the Gangwon (Kangwon) provincial Nordic venue. Vita Semerenko (; born 18 January 1986) is a Ukrainian biathlete. She is Olympic champion in women's relay, Olympic medalist and multiple World championships medalist. She is one of the most successful Ukrainian winter athletes. Biathlete Valentyna is her twin sister. Career When she was in the fourth grade of elementary school, she took up cross-country skiing together with her twin sister Valentyna. But later they decided to switch to biathlon. Vanessa Hinz (born 24 March 1992) is a former German biathlete and cross-country skier. Hinz started in her first world cup races at the end of the 2012/13-season. At the 2013 European Championships she won a gold medal with the German relay team. In 2014, she participated in the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
