South Tyrol Arena
The South Tyrol Arena (in Italian ''Arena Alto Adige''; in German ''Südtirol Arena'') is a biathlon stadium in the municipality of Rasen-Antholz, in South Tyrol (Italy). The facility will host the biathlon competitions of the 2026 Winter Olympics of Milan-Cortina. History The facility, which began construction in 1969 and opened in 1971, has regularly hosted a stage of the Biathlon World Cup, as well as six editions of the Biathlon World Championships (1975, 1976, 1983, 1995, 2007, and 2020) and two editions of the Biathlon Junior World Championships (1975 and 1983). The stadium was modernized from 2006: the grandstand for spectators was enlarged and a building was built for the competition judges. The total expenditure was 6.9 million euro. 2007 World Championship were attended by 117,000 spectators, with peaks of 23,000 on Saturday 10 February. Krasimir Anev ( bg, Красимир Анев); born 16 June 1987 in Samokov) is a Bulgarian former biathlete. His best result for the World Cup is a 4th place in the mass start in Oberhof, Germany, in the fourth race of the 2014/15 season. He competed at nine Biathlon World Championships between 2008 and 2017 and the Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010, in Sochi in 2014 and in Pyeongchang in 2018. Artem Pryma
Artem Pryma ( uk, Артем Прима, born 30 May 1987, Chernihiv, Ukrainian SSR) is a Ukrainian World Cup level biathlete. He participated at 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics. Career Pryma began competing internationally in 2006 but only participated in junior competitions. He debuted at World Cup on 14 January 2010, in German Ruhpolding, where he was 41st in the sprint. Then he started in relay together with his brother Roman but Roman screwed it up and had a penalty loop. The team finished 12th in that race. His first World Cup points he earned next year. At 2011 World Championships he was 25th in individual race. At 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey, he won four medals, including two gold. Together with Serhiy Semenov and Vita Semerenko, they were the most successful biathletes at those competitions. He is also 2011 European champion in individual race. Martin Ponsiluoma (born 8 September 1995) is a Swedish biathlete who competes internationally. He participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics. He ended up on a World Cup podium position for first time when he came third during competitions in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic on 20 December 2018. In the 2021 World Championships, he won gold in the sprint, which was also his first world cup win. Personal life Ponsiluoma's father, Jyrki Ponsiluoma, is a Finnish-born Swedish former cross-country skier. He has been in a relationship with fellow biathlete Hanna Öberg since 2021. Ondřej Moravec (; born 9 June 1984) is a former Czech biathlete. Life and career Moravec represented the Czech Republic at the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018. At the 2014 Winter Olympics, he won silver medals in both the pursuit and the mixed relay (together with Jaroslav Soukup, Veronika Vítková and Gabriela Soukalová) and a bronze medal in the mass start. Jakov Fak
Jakov Fak (born 1 August 1987) is a Croatian biathlete competing for Slovenia since 2010. As a member of the Croatian biathlon team, Fak won bronze medals at the 2009 World Championships and at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he was also the Croatian flag bearer at the opening ceremony. In 2010, Fak switched his citizenship and started competing for Slovenia. Fak won four medals at the World Championships with the Slovenian team, including two gold and a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. In addition, Fak has eight victories in the World Cup. Career Fak began to compete in biathlon in 2001 under the trainer Robert Petrović. His first international biathlon tournament was the Junior World Championships in Ridnaun in 2002, where his best result was 64th place in the Sprint event. Sebastian Samuelsson (born 28 March 1997) is a Swedish biathlete who competes internationally. He participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics. There he won a silver medal in the 12.5 km pursuit event as well as the gold medal in the relay. He became a World champion at 2023 Oberhof when he won gold medal in 15 km Mass start race. Samuelsson has been outspoken on his views on the presence of doping in the sport, and has especially been critical of Russia and its anti-doping agency RUSADA.
