Alpensia Biathlon Centre
Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre () and Alpensia Biathlon Centre () are sport venues in the Alpensia resort, located in Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do (South Korea), Gangwon-do, South Korea. They are used for cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing and biathlon respectively. Each grandstand of the two venues is contiguous and similar in appearance. They also adjoin the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre, ski jumping hills. In the non-winter season, the venues are also used as golf courses named Alpensia 700. History The venues were first completed in December 1995. They were called several names, which roughly mean the Gangwon (Kangwon) provincial Nordic venue. Emil Hegle Svendsen
Emil Hegle Svendsen (born 12 July 1985) is a retired Norwegian biathlete. He has won eight medals at Winter Olympics (four gold) and five individual gold medals and seven relay gold medals at World Championships. He skis with Trondhjems Skiskyttere, based in his hometown Trondheim. Career The 2005–06 season was Svendsen's first season on the World Cup tour. Previously, he had competed as a junior in the European Cup, now known as the IBU cup. During his first season in the World Cup, Svendsen finished fifth in three races, two of them in sprints ( Brezno- Osrblie and Ruhpolding), and the other in a mass start ( Holmenkollen). He competed in the 2014/15 World Cup season and represented Canada at the Biathlon World Championships 2013 in Nové Město na Moravě and at the Biathlon World Championships 2015 in Kontiolahti. Gow is the older brother of Canadian biathlete Christian Gow, competing alongside each other representing Canada at World Championships and both the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics.
