At each shooting station, a competitor has eight shots to hit five targets; however, only five bullets are loaded in a magazine at one - if additional shots are required, the spare bullets must be loaded one at a time. If after the eight shots are taken, there are still targets not yet hit, the competitor must ski a 150-metre penalty loop. Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort
is a skiing venue located in Nozawaonsen, Nagano, Japan. Nozawa Onsen Village is located at the foot of the ski resort, which spans across three main areas. Raphaël Poirée
Raphaël Poirée (born 9 August 1974) is a retired French biathlete who was active from 1995 to 2007. With his 44 World Cup victories and several World Championship medals he ranks among the most successful biathletes ever. Sports career Poirée was born in Rives, Isère in France and like the rest of his colleagues in the French biathlon and cross-country skiing team, was a sport soldier. Poirée has four IBU World Cup titles (1999−00, 2000−01, 2001−02 and 2003−04). He has also come second once, in 2005−06 and third once, in the 2004−05 season. Poirée has had 103 World Cup podium finishes, 44 in first place, 39 in second, and has come third 20 times. In the Winter Olympics, Poiree has one silver and two bronze medals. Ilmārs Bricis (born 9 July 1970) is a former Latvian biathlete, who has participated in six Winter Olympics from 1992 to 2010. He is now a biathlon coach. Bricis currently coaches Baiba Bendika and Tomas Kaukenas. Personal life He was married to three-time Olympian Anžela Brice (cross-country skiing 1998, biathlon 2002 and 2006). Their eighteen-year-old daughter Anete Brice, coached by Anžela, competed in cross-country skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics. His hobbies are music and driving. Career Bricis has won bronze medals in 20 km race at the 2001 World Championship in Pokljuka and in 10 km sprint at the 2005 World Championship in Hochfilzen. Oļegs Maļuhins
Oļegs Maļuhins (рус. Олег Малюхин, born 6 May 1969) is a former Latvian biathlete. Maļuhins was node made part of the Latvian Olympic biathlon team in 2006, and so participated in cross-country skiing instead. He retired after that season, but announced a comeback in 2008 stating that he would try to qualify for the 2010 Winter Olympics. He did not qualify. Tomasz Sikora (born 21 December 1973) is a former Polish biathlete. Life and career Sikora was born in Wodzisław Śląski. In 1993, he finished second in 10 km sprint at the Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding. He was world champion in 1995 (20 km), runner-up in the world championships in 2004 (also 20 km) and bronze medalist in 1997 (team competition). On 25 February 2006 he was placed second in the 15 km mass start at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, winning the second and final medal for Poland in those Olympics. On 23 March 2006 Sikora won the IBU World Cup sprint title, beating Ole Einar Bjørndalen by 5 points.
