Beer In The Czech Republic
Beer () has a long history in what is now the Czech Republic, with brewing taking place in Břevnov Monastery in 993. The city of Brno had the right to brew beer from the 12th century, while Plzeň and České Budějovice (Pilsen and Budweis in German), had breweries in the 13th century. The most common Czech beers are pale lagers of the pilsner type, with a characteristic transparent golden colour, high foaminess, and lighter flavour. The Czech Republic has the highest beer consumption per capita in the world. Pilsner Urquell Mug
Pilsner (also pilsener or simply pils) is a type of pale lager. It takes its name from the Bohemian city of Plzeň (), where the world's first pale lager (now known as Pilsner Urquell) was produced in 1842 by Pilsner Urquell Brewery. History Origin The city of Plzeň was granted brewing rights in 1307. Until the mid-1840s, most Bohemian beers were top- fermented. The Pilsner Urquell Brewery, originally called in (, ), is where Pilsen beer was first brewed. Brewers had begun aging beer made with cool fermenting yeasts in caves (lager, i.e., tored, which improved the beer's clarity and shelf-life. Velvet (beer)
Velvet is a type of woven fabric with a dense, even pile that gives it a distinctive soft feel. Historically, velvet was typically made from silk. Modern velvet can be made from silk, linen, cotton, wool, synthetic fibers, silk-cotton blends, or synthetic-natural fiber blends. Construction and composition Velvet is woven on a special loom that weaves two thicknesses of the material at the same time; the two layers are connected with an extra warp yarn that is woven over rods or wires. Premonstratensians
The Order of Canons Regular of Prémontré (), also known as the Premonstratensians, the Norbertines and, in United Kingdom, Britain and Ireland, as the White Canons (from the colour of their religious habit, habit), is a religious order of canons regular in the Catholic Church. They were founded in Prémontré near Laon in 1120 by Norbert of Xanten, who later became Archbishopric of Magdeburg, Archbishop of Magdeburg. Svijany Brewery () is a brewery in Svijany in the Czech Republic. Established in 1564, it is one of the oldest Czech breweries. The brewery produces an extensive range of unpasteurised lagers, mostly light in color and ranging in strength between 3.2% and 6.5% ABV. In common with the breweries in Náchod and Rohozec, Svijany is owned by the Liberec Investment Fund. Family Brewery Bernard (officially in Czech ''Rodinný pivovar Bernard'') is a brewery in Humpolec, Czech Republic, founded in 1597. It is owned by Rodinný pivovar Bernard, a. s. (shareholders: Duvel Moortgat NV, Breendonk, Belgium 50%, Stanislav Bernard 25%, Josef Vávra 25%). History The era of beer brewing started in Humpolec in 1597, when the brewery belonged to the owner of the Herálec estate. In the 1930s, it employed 40 people and produced 20,000 hectolitres a year. The beer was sold in the Humpolec, Německý Brod (now Havlíčkův Brod), Ledečko and Pelhřimov regions. Zlatopramen (meaning "golden well") is a brand of beer that was produced by Drinks Union, later by Heineken N.V., Heineken in the Krásné Březno brewery. The Zlatopramen brand was first registered in 1967, when it was chosen after a naming competition. Březňák is a brand of a pilsner-type beer produced in Velké Březno near Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. It has been brewed since 1753. Since 2008, the Velké Březno Brewery is owned by the Heineken N.V. group. History Brewery was first mentioned in 1606. In 1753 Ferdinand Bonaventura Count Harrach built a new court and brewery.
