Beach Volleyball At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's Beach volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics, Olympic beach volleyball tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing took place at the Beach Volleyball Ground at Chaoyang Park from August 9 to August 22. Each of the 24 pairs in the tournament was placed in one of six groups of four teams apiece, and played a round-robin within that pool. The top two teams in each pool advanced to the Round of 16. The six third-place teams were ranked against each other, with ties being broken by the ratio of points won to lost. The best two advanced to the Round of 16, while the other four played two matches (#3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5) with the winners of those two matches advancing as well. The losers of those matches, along with the fourth-place teams in each group, were eliminated. The 16 teams that advanced to the elimination rounds played a single-elimination tournament with a bronze medal match between the semifinal losers. Beach Volleyball Ground
The Chaoyang Park Beach Themed Park (), known as the Chaoyang Park Beach Volleyball Ground () during the 2008 Olympic Games, is a swimming, Samba (Brazilian dance), samba, African dance, hula and carnival place in Chaoyang Park that used to be one of 9 temporary venues used for the 2008 Summer Olympics. It was built on the site of the ex-Beijing Coal gas, Gas Appliance Factory () but now a part of the park. The ground was used for the Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics, beach volleyball matches. The venue had a capacity of 12,000, consisting of 1 competition ground, 2 warmup grounds, and 6 training grounds. Court 2 was used on Day 6 of competition. After the Olympics, the venue hosted the Beijing Grand Slam of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in 2011 and 2012. It also hosted the Beijing Ocean-Beach Carnival every summer since 2009. SWATCH FIVB World Championship
The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships is the double-gender world championship for the sport of beach volleyball organized by the ' ( FIVB) the sport's global governing body. The first official edition of the event was held in Los Angeles, United States in 1997 and tournaments had been awarded every two years since then. Before 1997, ten unofficial championships not organized by the FIVB were all held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil between 1987 and 1996. The most recent World Championships took place in Mexico in 2023. Winning the World Championships is considered to be one of the highest honours in international beach volleyball, surpassing the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour and being surpassed only by the beach volleyball tournament at the Summer Olympic Games. Pedro Ricardo Salgado González (born 6 November 1992), is a Chilean former association football, footballer who played as a Defender (soccer), defender. Richard Schuil (born 2 May 1973) is a former beach volleyball player from the Netherlands. Schuil was born in Leeuwarden, Friesland. A former volleyball player, he represented his native country in three consecutive Summer Olympics in volleyball, starting in 1996 in Atlanta. Reinder Aart Nummerdor (born 10 September 1976) is a Dutch volleyball player who represented his native country at five consecutive Summer Olympics. Two times as a member of the indoor volleyball team in 2000 and 2004, and three more times after switching to beach volleyball. Having finished in fifth place in Sydney, Australia he ended up in ninth place with the Dutch Men's National Team four years later in Athens, Greece. Wu Penggen (Simplified Chinese:, born 7 May 1982) is a male Chinese professional beach volleyball player.
