Robert Bausch (April 18, 1945 – October 9, 2018) was an American fiction writer, the author of nine novels and one collection of short stories. He was a Professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College, and he had taught at the University of Virginia, The American University, Johns Hopkins University, George Mason University, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. His fourth novel, ''A Hole in the Earth'', was a ''New York Times'' Notable Book of the Year and a ''Washington Post'' Favorite Book of the Year. He was awarded the Fellowship of Southern Writers' award for fiction for his fifth novel, ''The Gypsy Man''. In 2005 Harcourt published his sixth novel, ''Out of Season'', which was a ''Washington Post'' favorite book of the year. Philippine "Pina" Bausch (27 July 1940 – 30 June 2009) was a German dancer and choreographer who was a significant contributor to a neo-expressionist dance tradition now known as . Bausch's approach was noted for a stylised blend of dance movement, prominent sound design, and involved stage sets, as well as for engaging the dancers under her to help in the development of a piece, and her work had an influence on modern dance from the 1970s forward. François Bausch (born 16 October 1956) is a Luxembourgish politician of the Greens who served as Second Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg from 2019 to 2023. He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1989 to 1992, from 1994 to 2013 and from 2023 to 2024. Prior to entering the government, Bausch was leader of the Greens in the Chamber. Frank Joseph "Pete" Bausch (June 14, 1908 – April 6, 1976) was an American football Center (American football), center in the National Football League (NFL) for the Boston Redskins, the Chicago Bears, and the Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football at the University of Kansas. Biography Bausch was regarded as one of NFL's top centers in the 1930s, being named first-team All-Pro in 1936. During his tenure with the Bears, he became a close friend of head coach George Halas, who personally nominated him for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. When Bausch was named the head coach of the Wichita Aero Commandos in 1942, Halas gave his blessing to the team and formed an agreement with the Commandos to become a farm team for the Bears. James Bausch
James Aloysius Bernard Bausch (March 29, 1906 – July 9, 1974), also known as "Jarring Jim", was an American athlete who competed mainly in the decathlon. Bausch grew up in and attended school in Garden Plain, Kansas, before finishing and graduating from Cathedral High School in Wichita, Kansas, and went to college at the University of Kansas, where he starred in football and basketball. He competed for the United States in the 1932 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles in the decathlon. Bausch only placed fifth after the first day, but splendid performances in the discus throw and pole vault helped him to build an insurmountable lead and win the gold medal over the heavily favored Finnish athlete Akilles Järvinen. John Jacob Bausch (born Johann Jakob Bausch; July 25, 1830 – February 14, 1926) was a German-American maker of optical instruments who co-founded Bausch & Lomb (with Henry Lomb). Over six decades he transformed his small, local optical shop into a large-scale international enterprise, pioneering the American optical industry. Early years Bausch was born Johann Jakob Bausch to Georg Bausch, a baker, and his wife Anna Schmid, in Groß Süßen (today part of Süßen) in the Kingdom of Württemberg, then part of the German Confederation. Ludwig Christian August Bausch (15 January 1805 in Dresden26 May 1871 in Leipzig) was a German ''Bogenmacher'' / bow maker. He became known as the "German Tourte". Bausch started a dynasty of makers. Richard Bausch (born April 18, 1945) is an American novelist, short story writer, and Professor in the Writing Program at Chapman University in Orange, California. He has published thirteen novels, nine short story collections, and one volume of poetry and prose. He joined with the writer and editor Ronald Verlin Cassill to bring out the 6th edition of ''The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction''.
