''Battles in the Shadow'' () is a 1938 Italian spy thriller film directed by Domenico Gambino and starring Antonio Centa, Dria Paola and Paola Barbara.Curti p.33 It was shot at the Cinecittà Studios in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art director Giorgio Pinzauti. Synopsis A group of foreign agents steal a formula for a new explosive, then kidnap the scientist's secretary to try and force her to decode the blueprints. Domenico Gambino (17 May 1890 – 17 April 1968) was an Italian actor, screenwriter and film director. Gambino played Saetta, one of the rival strongman heroes to Maciste. Saetta had his own series of films during the early 1920s. Roberto Bianchi Montero
Roberto Bianchi Montero (7 December 1907 – 7 December 1986) was an Italian actor, director and screenwriter. Life and career Born in Rome, Bianchi Montero started acting as a teenager on stage and he was a member of an amateur theater group with whom he performed in several festivals. In 1930 he entered the stage company of Ettore Petrolini, and in 1934 he founded his own company. In 1936 he got his first film role, and in the late 1930s he also was assistant director for a number of films. After the Second World War, Bianchi Montero directed numerous genre films, usually low-budget productions, in which he often also collaborated to the screenplays. He particularly specialized in melodramas, Spaghetti Westerns and Commedia sexy all'italiana films. He was the father of the director Mario Bianchi. Febo Mari (1884–1939) was an Italian actor and film director. He found success as a leading man during Italy's silent film era. Early life Febo Mari was born Alfredo Giovanni Leopoldo Rodriguez in Messina, Sicily. His family were wealthy and of Iberian descent. He graduated from Peloritana University, having studied literature and philosophy, and soon began acting in theatre. By age 27 he was managing the Manzoni Theater in Milan. He entered the silent film industry in the early 1910's. His first feature length film was ''La ribalta'' (1912), directed by prolific Mario Caserini. The first film Mari acted in and scripted was ''Il fuoco'' (1915). Renato Cialente (2 February 1897 – 25 November 1943) was an Italian stage and film actor. He appeared in 40 films between 1920 and 1943. His younger sister Fausta Cialente (1898–1994) was a novelist, journalist and political activist. Blueprint
A blueprint is a reproduction of a technical drawing or engineering drawing using a contact print process on light-sensitive sheets introduced by Sir John Herschel in 1842. The process allowed rapid and accurate production of an unlimited number of copies. It was widely used for over a century for the reproduction of specification drawings used in Architectural drawing#Working drawings, construction and industry. Blueprints were characterized by white lines on a blue background, a Negative (photography), negative of the original. Color or shades of grey could not be reproduced. The process is obsolete, initially superseded by the whiteprint#The_diazo_printing_process, diazo-based ''whiteprint'' process, and later by large-format xerography, xerographic photocopiers.
