Battle Of Tápióbicske
The Battle of Tápióbicske was a battle in the Spring Campaign of the Hungarian War of Independence (1848–1849), fought on 4April 1849 between the Austrian Empire and the Hungarian Revolutionary Army. The Habsburg forces consisted of the I Corps of the Imperial Army led by Lieutenant Field Marshal Josip Jelačić. The Hungarians deployed I and III Corps led by General György Klapka and General János Damjanich respectively. Although initially the careless soldiers of the I. corps were put to flight by the Croatian and Austrian soldiers, after entering in their trap, the Hungarians were victorious, thanks to the intervention of the III. corps, and the main Hungarian armies could advance towards the Hungarian capitals (Buda and Pest), forcing the Austrian high commander, Field Marshal Alfred I, Prince of Windisch-Grätz fight a decisive battle at Isaszeg, which would decide the fate of Central and Western Hungary until the intervention of the Russian forces on the Habsburg si ... Pest (Hungary)
Pest () is the eastern, mostly flat part of Budapest, Hungary, comprising about two-thirds of the city's territory. It is separated from Buda and Óbuda, the western parts of Budapest, by the Danube River. Among its most notable sights are the Inner City, the Hungarian Parliament Building, Heroes' Square and Andrássy Avenue. In colloquial Hungarian, "Pest" is often used for the whole capital of Budapest. The three parts of Budapest (Pest, Buda, Óbuda) united in 1873. Etymology According to Ptolemy the settlement was called ''Pession'' in ancient times (Contra-Aquincum). Jászberény
Jászberény is a city and market centre in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county in Hungary. Location Jászberény is located in central Hungary, on the Zagyva River, a tributary of the Tisza River. It is about from Budapest. History The oldest archeological finds from the Jászság, the area around Jászberény, originate from nomadic people of the stone-age and date back 16500 years B.C. Excavations (2002) in Jászberény and Jásztelek aiming for traces of the hunter and gatherers of the mesolithic in the northern part of the Great Hungarian Plain by Róbert Kertész detected distinct indications of settlements. Farmos
Farmos is a village in the district of Nagykáta (also a nearby town), in the middle of Pest county, and in the agglomeration of Budapest in Hungary. Farmos can be reached via Secondary Main Road 311 from Nagykáta, Tápiószele and Secondary Main Road 31 from Jászberény. The village has a railway station, which is connected to the Budapest-Nagykáta-Szolnok railway line. History Farmos was first mentioned officially in a document in 1420, but its history dates back to the ancient times, some artifacts found around the settlement are claimed to be from the times prior the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin. Nagykáta Nagykáta is a town in , Hungary, about from Budapest. Connections Express trains take 47 minutes to Budapest Keleti railway station from Nagykáta and stopping trains about 65 minutes. History The history of Nagykáta dates back to the 12th century, when the Pest county branch of the Káta family settled in the region.
