Bat For Lashes
Natasha Khan (born 25 October 1979), known professionally as Bat for Lashes, is an English singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. She has released six studio albums: '' Fur and Gold'' (2006), ''Two Suns'' (2009), '' The Haunted Man'' (2012), '' The Bride'' (2016), '' Lost Girls'' (2019), and ''The Dream of Delphi'' (2024). She has received three Mercury Prize nominations. Khan is also the vocalist for Sexwitch, a collaboration with the rock band Toy and producer Dan Carey. Early life Khan was born to an English mother and a Pakistani father, squash player Rehmat Khan. A member of the Khan family, she is the granddaughter of squash player Nasrullah Khan, the niece of squash players Jahangir Khan and Torsam Khan, and the stepdaughter of singer and actress Salma Agha. Parlophone
Parlophone Records Limited (also known as Parlophone Records and Parlophone) is a record label founded in Germany in 1896 by the Carl Lindström Company as Parlophon. The Mercury Prize, formerly called the Mercury Music Prize, is an annual Music award, music prize awarded for the best album released by a musical act from the Music of the United Kingdom, United Kingdom or Music of Ireland, Ireland. ''Lost Girls'' is the fifth studio album by English singer-songwriter Natasha Khan, known professionally as Bat for Lashes. It was released on 6 September 2019 through AWAL. It is Khan's follow up to 2016's '' The Bride''. The lead single "Kids in the Dark" was released on 10 June 2019. Khan has cited 1980s music and cinema as an inspiration for the record, citing artists such as Bananarama, Cyndi Lauper and The Blue Nile as well as film composer John Williams in an interview with ''The Line of Best Fit''. Promotion Khan teased a release on 10 June 2019 through early June, posting short videos to her social media accounts. ''The Haunted Man'' is the third studio album by English singer and songwriter Natasha Khan, known professionally as Bat for Lashes. It was released on 12 October 2012 by Parlophone. The album was preceded by the lead single " Laura", which was released on 24 July 2012. Background Khan stated in July 2012 that, after she returned home in March 2010 from touring in support of ''Two Suns'' (2009), she tried to rehabilitate herself to rebuild a sense of who she was without the music. In May 2010, Khan stated that although she had enough songs to put out as an album, she wanted to take more time working on new material, as she had been on tour for a long time, and found it boring to write songs about being on tour. ''Two Suns'' is the second studio album by English singer Natasha Khan, known professionally as Bat for Lashes. It was released on 3 April 2009 by The Echo Label and Parlophone. The album was produced by Khan herself and David Kosten (who also worked on her debut album '' Fur and Gold''), and features collaborations with members of Yeasayer and Scott Walker. ''Two Suns'' was recorded in segments in California, New York City, London, Brighton and Wales. Upon its release, ''Two Suns'' was met with positive reviews from most critics. Sexwitch
Sexwitch is a musical collaboration between the English rock band Toy and Natasha Khan (Bat for Lashes). Their self-titled album was released on 25 September 2015, and consists of six cover versions of 1970s psychedelic and folk songs from Iran, Morocco, Thailand and the United States. Recording Khan and Toy had previously collaborated in 2013 to cover "The Bride", a pre-revolution Iranian song. For ''Sexwitch,'' Khan and producer Dan Carey bought several "old weird psych records from different countries, strange folk mountain songs", and invited Toy to record cover versions of the songs.
