Basketball At The 1966 Asian Games
Basketball was one of the 14 sports disciplines held in the 1966 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand. Israel won their 1st title by beating host country in the championship match. This marked the first time the Philippines wasn't able to reach the semifinals. The games were held from 10 December to 19, 1966. Nimibutr Stadium
Nimibutr Stadium (sometimes referred to as Nimibutr Gymnasium) is an indoor sports arena located in Bangkok, Thailand. The capacity of the arena is 5,600 spectators. It was built in 1963 and is part of the National Stadium complex. It is used for a variety of indoor sports including badminton, handball, basketball, futsal, gymnastics and boxing. It has also hosted concerts. Ami Shelef
Ami Shelef (; September 20, 1936 – December 24, 1988) was an Israeli basketball player and coach. He played the center position. He played in the Israel Basketball Premier League, and for the Israeli national basketball team. Biography Shelef was born in Haifa, Mandatory Palestine. He was 1.96 m (6 ft 5 in) tall. Sports career Shelef played in the Israel Basketball Premier League for Hapoel Givat Brenner and Hapoel Tel Aviv. Shelef competed for the Israeli national basketball team. He played in the 1961 European Championship for Men, 1963 European Championship for Men, 1965 European Championship for Men, and 1966 Asian Games Basketball Championship (winning a gold medal).
