Peter Basch (September 23, 1921 – March 15, 2004) was an American magazine and glamour photographer. He was born in Berlin, lived and died in New York City. The main body of his work was produced in the fifties and sixties. Early life Peter Basch was born in Berlin, Germany, the only child of Felix Basch and Grete Basch-Freund, both prominent theater and film personalities of the German-speaking world. In 1933 the family came to New York due to fears of rising anti-Jewish sentiment and laws in Germany. The family had US citizenship because Felix's father, Arthur Basch, was a wine trader who lived in San Francisco. After moving back to Germany, Arthur Basch kept his American citizenship, and passed it to his children and, thence, to his grandchildren. Andor Basch (Budapest, May 19, 1885 – Budapest, June 24,1944) was a Hungarian painter whose works have been featured in the Hungarian National Gallery. He is the son of painter Gyula Basch. His life He was born into a wealthy Jewish family in Budapest. His mother Róza Krausz (Terezia); his father was Gyula Basch, a well-known portrait and portrait painter of his time. Andor Basch graduated from the Catholic high school after being baptized in 1899. He was a student of Tivadar Zemplényi, who represented the academic style, at the Model Drawing School in Budapest. From 1904, he continued his art studies in Paris, where he studied with Jean-Paul Laurens at the famous Julian Academy and spent a year at Henri Matisse's private school. Samuel Siegfried Karl ''Ritter'' von Basch (9 September 1837, Prague25 April 1905) was an Austrian-Jewish (Yekke) physician who was best known as the personal physician of emperor Maximilian of Mexico and the inventor of the blood pressure meter (also known as sphygmomanometer). Basch was educated at Charles University in Prague and the University of Vienna. From 1857 he studied chemistry at the laboratory of Ernst Wilhelm von Brücke in Vienna, and five years later began the practice of medicine. Raphael Basch, also Rafael Basch (1813 – 22 January 1907) was a Bohemian-Austrians, Austrian writer and politician. He was the adoptive father of Victor Basch (1863–1944). Biography Basch was born in 1813 in Prague, then part of the Austrian Empire. After the first disturbances leading to the Revolution of 1848, he went to Vienna and took an active part in the insurrection. There he founded the ''Reichstagblatt'', which he continued at Kroměříž until the dissolution of the Constitutional Assembly in March 1849. Harry Leo Basch (January 16, 1926 – June 23, 2020) was an American actor and author. In 1951 he appeared in "Mr. Roberts" at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco. He is possibly best known for his role as Vince Caproni in the 1980s television series ''Falcon Crest''. Basch attended Ithaca College, where he studied drama. Basch appeared in ''Falcon Crest'' from 1982 to 1984. He also appeared as Dr. Brown in the ''Star Trek'' episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" in 1966. In addition to acting, Basch wrote several articles for the ''Los Angeles Times'' about traveling. Gyula Basch (April 9, 1851 - January 2, 1928), was a Hungarian painter. Basch was born in Budapest. After completing his studies at the Gymnasium (school), gymnasium, he attended the polytechnicinstitute at Zurich (1867–72), where he obtained his diploma as engineer. He devoted himself, however, exclusively to painting, and became first a dayscholar at the École des Beaux-Arts at Paris (1873–74), and afterward a pupil of T. Paczka (1885) and of the painter L. Horovitz in Budapest (1888), finally occupying himself with genre and portrait painting. He died in Baden bei Wien.
