Baku Children's Theatre
The Baku Children’s Theatre is a theatre for young audiences in Qaraçuxur, Baku, Azerbaijan, founded in 2001. It participates in national and international theatre festivals, cooperates with international organizations, and hosts a theatre studio for children with special needs. History Baku Children`s Theatre was established in 2001 by Order No. 260 of Baku City Executive Power and Order No 32 of the Baku City Culture and Tourism Department. Intigam Soltan has been the director of the theatre since May 1, 2002. Nearly 70 children work and perform at the Theatre. A theatre studio for children with special needs was established in November 2009. The studio performed at the 4th National Festival of Contemporary Performances of Children and Youth with Disabilities in Azerbaijan and at the 2nd International Youth Festival for People with Disabilities in Moscow and was awarded a diploma. Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA), also youth theatre, theatre for children, and children's theatre is a branch of theatre arts that encompasses all forms of theatre that are attended by or created for younger audiences. It blankets many different forms of theatre methods and expressions, including plays, dance, music, puppetry, circus, physical theatre, and many others. It is globally practiced, takes many forms, both traditional and non-traditional, and explores a wide variety of themes ranging from fairy tales to parental abuse. Elchin Afandiyev
Elchin Ilyas oglu Afandiyev () is an Azerbaijani writer, professor and politician who served as Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan from 1993 to 2018. Early years Afandiyev was born to the family of famous Azerbaijani writer Ilyas Afandiyev on 13 May 1943 in Baku. Since his early childhood, Elchin Afandiyev was surrounded by literature and an academic environment. Azerbaijani folklore and world literature played a significant role in Afandiyev's future career. He wrote his first novel when he was 16 years old, which was published in ''Azərbaycan gəncləri'' (''Azerbaijani Youth'') magazine in 1959. He completed his secondary education in 1960 and studied at Baku State University, graduating in 1965 with a degree in philology. In 1968, he completed his post-graduate studies at the Nizami Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, writing a 500-page dissertation. The Samed Vurgun Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theatre (, ), is a performing art located in Baku, Azerbaijan, that produced plays in the Russian language. The performances of the theatre are mainly from the Russian works of art and literature, and the remainder are performances from Azerbaijani and European classical writers. History At the end of the 19th century, Russian troupes began to actively perform in Baku. The most famous of these troupes was the theater group led by Polonsky. This troupe performed at the Tagiyev Theater for more than twenty years. The theatre, with its fixed repertoire, props and clothing stores, and many decorative designs, were performing five days a week. With the consent and permission of Polonsky, the building of the Tagiyev Theater was rented to various Azerbaijani theater groups on Fridays. The Azerbaijan State Academic Drama Theatre () is an academic theatre of drama in Baku, Azerbaijan. History of the theatre The theatre has its origins in national holidays and dances. Elements of theatricality were contained in many kinds of national creativity accompanying national festivities, traditional holidays and other occasions. The Baku Puppet Theatre (formally Azerbaijan State Puppet Theatre named after Abdulla Shaig, ) is a puppet theatre located on Neftchiler Avenue of Baku.
