Bagalkot district (), is an administrative district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The district headquarters is located in the town of Bagalkot. The district is located in northern Karnataka and borders Belgaum district, Belgaum, Gadag district, Gadag, Koppal district, Koppal, Raichur district, Raichur and Bijapur district, Karnataka, Bijapur. The new Bagalkot district was carved out of Vijayapura in 1997 via Government of Karnataka directive ''Notification RD 42 LRD 87 Part III''. The Karnataka Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of Karnataka state in India. Karnataka is one of the six states in India, where the state legislature is bicameral, comprising two houses. The two houses are the ''Vidhan Sabha'' (lower house) and the ''Vidhan Parishad'' (upper house). Swatantra Party
The Swatantra Party was an Indian classical liberal political party that existed from 1959 to 1974. It was founded by C. Rajagopalachari in reaction to what he felt was the Jawaharlal Nehru-dominated Indian National Congress's increasingly socialist and statist outlook. The party had a number of distinguished leaders, most of them old Congressmen, like C. Rajagopalachari, Minoo Masani, N. G. Ranga, Darshan Singh Pheruman, Udham Singh Nagoke and K. M. Munshi. The provocation for the formation of the party was the left turn that the Congress took at Avadi and the Nagpur Resolutions. Swatantra stood for a market-based economy and the dismantling of the " Licence Raj" although it opposed ''laissez-faire'' policies. 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 12 May 2018 in 222 constituencies to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 5 May 2013 to elect members from 223 constituencies in the Indian state of Karnataka. The election for the Piriyapatna constituency was postponed to 28 May 2013 due to the death of the BJP candidate for the seat. The voter turnout in the state was 70.23%. The 2008 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election took place in three phases on 10, 16 and 22 May 2008 in all the 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka, India.
