Backlash (2025)
The 2025 Backlash, also promoted as Backlash St. Louis, was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming List of WWE pay-per-view and livestreaming supercards, event produced by WWE. It was the 20th WWE Backlash, Backlash event and took place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw (WWE brand), Raw and SmackDown (WWE brand), SmackDown WWE brand extension, brand divisions. The concept of the event was based around the backlash from WrestleMania 41. Five matches were contested at the event. In the main event, John Cena defeated Randy Orton to retain SmackDown's Undisputed WWE Championship. Patrick Justin McAfee ( ; born May 2, 1987) is an American sports analyst, color commentator, and former professional football punter and kickoff specialist. He is an analyst on '' College GameDay'' and the host of the sports talk show '' The Pat McAfee Show'' on ESPN, and is signed to WWE as the color commentator for '' Raw'' while also being an occasional wrestler. McAfee was a placekicker for the West Virginia Mountaineers. He was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft. Backlash (2009)
The 2009 Backlash was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It was the 11th Backlash and took place on April 26, 2009, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw, SmackDown, and ECW brand divisions. It was the final Backlash held until 2016, as in 2010, Backlash was replaced by Extreme Rules. The concept of the pay-per-view was based around the backlash from WrestleMania 25—despite the event's revival in 2016, the 2009 event would be the final Backlash to carry the post-WrestleMania theme until the 2021 event. A ring name is a type of stage name or nickname used by an athlete such as a professional wrestler, mixed martial artist, or boxer whose real name is considered unattractive, dull, difficult to pronounce or spell, amusing for the wrong reasons, or projecting the wrong image.
