BBC North East and Cumbria is one of the BBC's BBC English Regions, English regions covering Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, Gateshead, South Tyneside, City of Sunderland, County Durham, Northumberland, north and mid Cumbria and parts of North Yorkshire. Chatton Transmitting Station
The Chatton transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility, between Wooler and Seahouses, Northumberland. It is owned and operated by Arqiva, and situated within the boundary of Bewick and Beanley Moors SSSI. BBC Local Radio
BBC Local Radio (also referred to as Local BBC Radio) is the BBC's local and regional radio division for England and the Channel Islands, consisting of 39 stations. As of December 2024, the network broadcasts to a combined audience of 7.1 million, with a listening share of 4.6%, according to RAJAR. History The popularity of pirate radio was to challenge a then very "stiff" and blinkered management at the BBC. The most prominent concession by the BBC was the creation of BBC Radio 1 to satisfy the ever-demanding new youth culture with their thirst for new, popular music. The other, however, was that these pirate radio stations were, in some cases, local. As a result, BBC Local Radio began as an experiment. BBC Yorkshire is one of the English regions of the BBC. It was formed from the division of the former BBC North region into BBC Yorkshire and BBC Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, based in Kingston upon Hull. Serving West, North and South Yorkshire and the north Midlands. Super League Show
The ''Super League Show'' was a weekly television programme showing highlights from the Super League. The show was initially presented by Harry Gration, and from 2012 was presented by Tanya Arnold. Match commentary came from Dave Woods, Matt Newsum, Sharon Shortle and Tim Steere, with some additional commentary occasionally coming from BBC Local Radio commentators. The programme was produced by PDI Media at BBC Yorkshire's studios in Leeds. Gration and Arnold were joined by one or more guests each week, who gave their thoughts and analysis of the match highlights shown. These segments were originally filmed in a studio, but in later series were filmed pitch-side at one of the week's games. In February 2024, BBC Sport announced a three-year deal with the league, replacing Channel 4 as the league's live free-to-air partner. ''BBC Look North'' is the BBC's regional television news service for North East England, Cumbria and parts of North Yorkshire. The service is produced and broadcast from the BBC Broadcasting Centre on Barrack Road in Newcastle upon Tyne with district newsrooms based in Carlisle, Middlesbrough and York. Reception The programme can be watched in any part of the UK (and Europe) from Astra 2E on Freesat channel 956 and Sky channel 955. Spital Tongues
Spital Tongues is a district of Newcastle upon Tyne, located due north-west of the Newcastle City Centre. Its unusual name is believed to be derived from ''spital'' – a corruption of the word ''hospital'', commonly found in British place names (e.g. Spitalfields) - and ''tongues'', meaning outlying pieces of land. North of Spital Tongues is the Town Moor, while Castle Leazes and Leazes Park are to the East. Buildings and structures of note Fenham Barracks Fenham Barracks was constructed in Spital Tongues in 1806. Several buildings at the site are listed grade II structures. BBC One

BBC Radio Tees, formerly known as BBC Radio Teesside, BBC Radio Cleveland and then BBC Tees, is a BBC local radio station broadcasting from Broadcasting House, Newport Road, Middlesbrough.
