Australian Institute Of Landscape Architects
The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) is the Australian non profit professional institute formed to serve the mutual interests of Australian landscape architects. History The AILA was established in 1966 with an interim committee chaired by Richard Clough. Jean Brodie-Hall
Jean, Lady Brodie-Hall, , FAILA (15 August 1925 – July 2023) was an Australian landscape architect. She was a founding member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, and had a long and distinguished career in Western Australia before her retirement in 1981. She was acknowledged as a leader in West Australian landscape architecture and received a national award for landscape architecture in 1990. Early life Jean Estelle Slatyer was born in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia on 15 August 1925, daughter of Thomas Henry Slatyer and his wife Jean Estelle MacKenzie. She was the middle one of five siblings, having two older and two younger brothers. Ellis Stones
Ellis Andrew Stones (1 October 1895 – 9 April 1975) was an Australian landscape architect of private and public gardens—many displaying naturalistic rockwork—and a conservationist whose work and ideas influenced approaches to public landscaping in Australia. Based in Melbourne, Australia, he was an early proponent of the use of Australian native plants and one of the founding fathers of the Australian landscaping style. Alistair Knox
Alistair Samuel Knox (8 April 1912 – 30 July 1986) was an Australian designer, builder and landscape architect who used recycled materials and mudbrick in his constructions and is considered to be a pioneer of modern mudbrick building, having designed more than 1,000 houses throughout the Nillumbik region of Victoria as well as in other parts of Australia.
