Arthur Harvey (September 26, 1895 – March 22, 1976) was an American businessman best known as the namesake of the Harvey Park neighborhood of Denver. Early life and World War I Harvey was born in Edom, Texas. At age 16 he left school to do manual labor and eventually enlisted in the Fifth Texas Infantry.Crowell, Evelyn Miller, ed. He worked in the company office until he left for France in 1918 and was transferred to the Second Division of the Regular Army, where he was assigned to the 9th Infantry. Harvey was active from August 5, 1917, until August 18, 1919, receiving battle stars at St. Mihiel, Champagne, and Meuse-Argonne and exiting as a sergeant. Arthur Harvey (c. 1827 – 25 January 1902) was a politician in the colony of South Australia. Background Arthur Harvey was sent to South Australia around 1870 by a consortium of London businessmen who planned to capitalize on the expected increase in the value of land along the route of the proposed railway to Port Darwin. The railway was shelved, but Harvey remained as a speculator and investor. Harvey was secretary of the Euko Mining Company 1867, The Wharf and Land Company, Port Adelaide South Limited in 1878, In 1878 Harvey and Frederick Estcourt Bucknall (later to be his parliamentary colleague) formed the Grange Land and Investment Company, to develop the suburb of The Grange.
