Apostolic Vicariate Of Bluefields
The Diocese of Bluefields ( la, Dioecesis Bluefieldensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical jurisdiction or diocese of the Catholic Church in Nicaragua. The Vicariate Apostolic of Bluefields had been erected on December 2, 1913 and had grown to approximately 587,000 Catholics by 2017. On November 30, 2017 the Vicariate Apostolic of Bluefields was elevated to a diocese and a second diocese (the Diocese of Siuna) was created, taking approximately 60% of the Catholics that had formerly been in the Vicariate Apostolic of Bluefields. The current bishop is Francisco José Tigerino Dávila. Leopoldo José Brenes Solórzano (; born 7 March 1949, in Ticuantepe) is a Nicaraguan prelate of the Roman Catholic Church, Catholic Church who has been archbishop of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Managua, Managua since 2005. He was made a Cardinal (Catholic Church), cardinal in 2014. He was an auxiliary bishop of Managua from 1988 to 1991 and bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Matagalpa, Matagalpa from 1991 to 2005. Biography Leopoldo Brenes was born in Ticuantepe on 7 March 1949. He studied first at Rural School of Ticuantepe, Cristóbal Rugada School of Masaya, and Escuela Normal of Managua and then continued his secondary studies at the National Institute of Masaya and at Colegio San José de Calasanz. David Albin Zywiec Sidor, OFM Cap (July 15, 1947 – January 5, 2020) was an American-Nicaraguan Roman Catholic bishop. Born in East Chicago, Indiana, United States, Zywiec Sidor was ordained to the priesthood, for the Capuchin order, on June 1, 1974.
