Clarence Bester
Clarence Edgar Bester (born 1970/1971) is a South African-born Australian bishop in the Anglican Church of Australia. He has served as the 11th Bishop of Wangaratta since February 2020. Early life and parish ministry Bester was born, raised and educated in Cape Town, South Africa. He wanted to be a priest from age 13 or 14, but after his education took a job at the National Library of South Africa as a library assistant. He was offered a full scholarship to study library science but declined it to take up the opportunity to enter ministry. In 1996, Bester was ordained as deacon in the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. He then served in various parishes in the Diocese of False Bay where he was ordained as priest and later collated as archdeacon. Anthony John Parkes (born 1950) is a retired Australian Anglican bishop who served as the tenth Bishop of Wangaratta between 13 December 2008 and 21 December 2019. Parkes began training for ordination in 1986 and was previously an assistant bishop in the Diocese of Brisbane. He also served as rector of All Saints' Church in Ainslie (1998–2004) and was also a former barrister where he served on the General Synod Standing Committee and the Church Law Commission. Prior to his election, Parkes served as an assistant bishop and the dean of Brisbane in the Diocese of Brisbane. Parkes was installed as Bishop of Wangaratta on 13 December 2008. Ralph David Farrer (born May 1944) is a retired Anglican bishop. He was formerly the Bishop of Wangaratta in the Anglican Church of Australia and more recently a vicar in the Church of England. Early life and education Farrer was born in Surrey, England, and moved to Melbourne, Australia, with his family at a young age. Early life Richardson was educated at Keswick School, The Queen's College, Oxford, Harvard Divinity School and Cuddesdon Theological College. Robert George Beal (17 August 1929 – 24 June 2009) was an Australian Anglican bishop. Beal was educated at Sydney Grammar School and the University of Newcastle, Australia.
