''Amber'' is the second studio album by Dutch singer Amber. It was released in 1999 on Tommy Boy Records, and features dance-pop, Hi-NRG, house, and Urban contemporary songs. It is her most well-received album by the American Pop mainstream to date. She co-wrote three songs with songwriters/producers Rick Nowels and Billy Steinberg: "Sexual (Li Da Di)," "Above the Clouds," and "Love One Another." Marie-Claire Cremers (born 9 May 1969) known professionally as Amber is a Dutch-born singer, songwriter, label owner, and executive producer. She is best known for her hits " This Is Your Night", "If You Could Read My Mind", and "Sexual (Li Da Di)". In December 2016, ''Billboard'' ranked her as the 34th-most successful dance artist of all time. Career 1996–1997: Debut album Amber's music career took off when one of her demos, "This Is Your Night", was released by Tommy Boy Records. The single was on the Hot 100 chart for one year in 1996 and 1997. A full-length album of the same name soon followed. Urban Contemporary
Urban contemporary music, also known as urban music, hip hop, urban pop, or just simply urban, is a music radio format. The term was coined by New York radio DJ Frankie Crocker in the early to mid-1970s as a synonym for Black music. Urban contemporary radio stations feature a playlist made up entirely of Black genres such as R&B, pop-rap, quiet storm, urban adult contemporary, hip hop, Latin music such as Latin pop, Chicano R&B and Chicano rap, and Caribbean music such as reggae and soca. Urban contemporary was developed through the characteristics of genres such as R&B and soul. The ''Gavin Report'' was a San Francisco-based radio industry trade publication. The publication was founded by radio performer Bill Gavin in 1958. Its Top 40 listings were used for many years by programmers to decide content of programs. The publication was also responsible for running the Gavin Seminar, a convention for radio industry members. William Endfield Steinberg (born February 26, 1950) is an American songwriter. He achieved his greatest success in the 1980s with songwriting partner Tom Kelly; together they wrote or co-wrote the No. 1 hits " Like a Virgin" by Madonna (1984), " True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper (1986), "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles (1989), " So Emotional" by Whitney Houston (1987) and " Alone" (covered by Heart in 1987). Hi-NRG (pronounced "high energy") is a genre of uptempo disco or electronic dance music (EDM) that originated in the United States during the late 1970s and early 1980s. As a music genre, typified by fast tempo, staccato hi-hat rhythms (and the four-on-the-floor pattern), reverberated "intense" vocals and "pulsating" octave basslines, it was particularly influential on the disco scene.
