All People's Party (Nigeria)
The All People's Party (APP) is a former Nigerian political party. It was formed in late 1998 during a transition from military to civilian rule by a coalition of associations that received considerable support under the regime of Sani Abacha. Most of the party's support came from the middle belt region and parts of the north. Following gubernatorial elections in January 1999, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) emerged as the dominant political party. As a result, the APP and another party – the Alliance for Democracy (AD) – formed a coalition to contest the upcoming presidential election. Olu Falae of the AD was chosen as the coalition's presidential candidate, while Umaru Shinkafi of the APP was chosen as his running mate. Sani Abacha
Sani Abacha (20 September 1943 – 8 June 1998) was a Nigerian military officer and politician who ruled as the military head of state of Nigeria from 1993 until his death in 1998. He seized power on 17 November 1993 in the last successful coup d'etat in the military history of Nigeria. He was the Chief of Army Staff between 1985 to 1990; Chief of Defence Staff between 1990 to 1993; and Minister of Defence. Abacha became the first Nigerian Army officer to attain the rank of a full military general without skipping a single rank. His rule saw the achievement of several economic feats and also recorded human rights abuses and several political assassinations. Alliance For Democracy (Nigeria)
The Alliance for Democracy is a progressive opposition political party in Nigeria. It was formed on 9 September 1998. At the 2003 legislative elections, 12 April 2003, the party won 8.8% of the popular vote and 34 out of 360 seats in the Nigerian House of Representatives and 18 out of 109 seats in the Nigerian Senate. The party was formed to promote the cause of the Yoruba people in the Nigerian federation following the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election widely believed to have been won by Chief M. Chief Samuel Oluyemisi Falae (born 21 September 1938), is a Nigerian banker, administrator and politician, he was secretary to the military government of Ibrahim Babangida from January 1986 to December 1990, and was briefly the Finance Minister in 1990. He ran for president in Nigeria's Third and Fourth republics. Early life and education Falae was born to the family of Chief Joshua Alekete Falae and Abigail Aina Falae on September 21, 1938 in Ilu-Abo, Akure. Umaru Shinkafi (19 January 1937 – 6 July 2016) was a Nigerian intelligence chief, and Federal Commissioner of Internal Affairs. He was a presidential aspirant during the Third Nigerian Republic. Early career Umaru Shinkafi's father Ali Bisije was from Gashua, Yobe State while his mother was a Princess from Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State. Olusegun Obasanjo
Chief Olusegun Matthew Okikiola Ogunboye Aremu Obasanjo, , ( ; yo, Olúṣẹ́gun Ọbásanjọ́ ; born 5 March 1937) is a Nigerian political and military leader who served as Nigeria's head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as its president from 1999 to 2007.
