A4 Road (Malaysia)
Federal Route 22, Asian Highway Route AH150 (formerly Federal Route A4), is a federal highway in Sabah, Malaysia, which is also a component of the larger Pan Borneo Highway network. It starts from Tamparuli and ends at Sandakan. The section running from Tamparuli to Ranau, which is known as Tamparuli-Ranau Highway, crosses the Crocker Range just to the south of Mount Kinabalu. History The construction of the Federal Route 22 began in 1968 as a joint project between the Malaysian federal government with the government of Australia, known as the "Malaysian-Australian Road Project" (MARP). It was one of the two projects being jointly carried out with the Australian government, together with the Pergau Dam project in Kelantan, with the total cost of RM25 million for both projects. Tamparuli
Tamparuli is a small town and a sub-district of Tuaran on the west coast of Sabah, Malaysia. It is populated mainly by native Dusuns, while a sizeable Chinese community (of whom most are Hakkas) runs most of the shops in the town proper. As with many other small towns in Sabah and indeed Malaysia as a whole, the town itself consists of both newer concrete shoplots as well as old wooden ones, which are particularly prone to destruction by fire as evidenced in the destruction of one of the wooden shoplots in recent years. Now, Tamparuli is said to have the potential to grow with the convenience of a new shop site called Tamparuli Point. The most famous landmark in Tamparuli is a long hanging bridge which is immortalized in the song ''Jambatan Tamparuli'', a popular Kadazan-Dusun song. Pan Borneo Highway
Pan Borneo Highway ( ms, Lebuhraya Pan Borneo), also known as Trans-Borneo Highway or Trans-Kalimantan Highway ( id, Jalan Lintas Kalimantan), is a road network on Borneo Island connecting two Malaysian states, Sabah and Sarawak, with Brunei and Kalimantan region in Indonesia. The highway is numbered AH150 in the Asian Highway Network and as Federal Route 1 in Sarawak. In Sabah, the route numbers given are 1, 13 and 22. The highway is a joint project between both governments which started as soon as the formation of Malaysia in 1963 which comprised Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore. The lack of a road network system in Sarawak was the main factor of the construction. The length of the entire highway is expected to be about for the Malaysian section, for the Bruneian section and for the Indonesian section. Kota Belud
Kota Belud ( ms, Pekan Kota Belud; ; Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: Kú-tá Mâu-lu̍t) is the capital of the Kota Belud District in the West Coast Division of Sabah, Malaysia. Its population was estimated to be around 8,392 in 2010. It is roughly at the midpoint of the federal highway connecting the state capital, Kota Kinabalu, and Kudat, near the northern tip of Sabah. The town is considered as the unofficial capital and gateway to the heartland of the West Coast Bajau people. Kota Belud's population is divided between the Bajau-Sama, Dusun and Illanun peoples. There is a Chinese minority, which consists mainly of Hakkas. It is noted for its open air market, or ''tamu'', which is held every Sunday. Once a year, the ''tamu'' is held on a much larger scale. Pergau station or formally known as Stesen Janaelektrik Sultan Ismail Petra is a hydroelectric power station in Kuala Yong, Kelantan, Malaysia. It is located about 100 km west of Kota Bharu.
