Avram David "Avi" Lewis (born May 1967) is a Canadian activist, documentary filmmaker, former host of the Al Jazeera English show '' Fault Lines'' and former host of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) current-affairs programs '' CounterSpin'' and ''On the Map''. He is currently an associate professor at the University of British Columbia. Avi Shlaim
Avi Shlaim (, ; born 31 October 1945) is an Israeli and British historian of Iraqi Jewish descent. He is one of Israel's " New Historians", a group of Israeli scholars who put forward critical interpretations of the history of Zionism and Israel. Biography Shlaim was born to wealthy Jewish parents in Baghdad in the Kingdom of Iraq. In the 1930s, the situation of the Jews in Iraq deteriorated, with the rise of nationalisms in Arab countries, and the concomitant growth of Jewish nationalism in the form of Zionism. Persecution of Jews was exacerbated after the defeat of the Arab armies in 1948, and Israel's independence. In 1951, during Operation Ezra and Nehemiah, Shlaim's family, along with most of Iraq's Jews, registered to emigrate to Israel and forfeit their Iraqi citizenship. is a Japanese professional basketball player for SeaHorses Mikawa of the B.League. He played college basketball for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Schafer has been a member of the Japan national basketball team. Early life Schafer was born in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, to a Japanese mother, Sayuki, and an American father, Douglas. Aviel David "Avi" Rubin (born November 8, 1967) is an expert in systems and networking security. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins University, Technical Director of the Information Security Institute at Johns Hopkins, Director of ACCURATE, and President and co-founder of Independent Security Evaluators. In 2002, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the USENIX Association for a two-year term. Avi Ran (; August 25, 1963 – July 11, 1987) was a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper at the Israeli football club Maccabi Haifa F.C., Maccabi Haifa. Widely considered one of the greatest football players in Israel, he had a promising future which was cut short by a fatal accident. Football career Ran made his debut in Haifa's senior team in the 1981–82 season at the age of 17 in a match against Maccabi Tel Aviv, keeping a clean sheet in the process. Ran went on to play for most of the season, competing for his place in the team with Zadok Avrahami. Avi Peretz (in Hebrew אבי פרץ) sometimes transliterated Avi Perez (born 9 December 1966) is an Israeli singer of Jewish Mizrahi music (in Hebrew מוזיקה מזרחית i.e., Muziqa mizrahit, meaning Oriental music). Biography Perez grew up in Bat Yam, Israel. His grandfather was a famous poet in Morocco. From a young age Peretz learned to play the keyboard, and began his music career at age 13. Avi Peretz (; born September 2, 1971) is an Israeli former football player who last worked as a goalkeeping coach in Hapoel Haifa. In June 2020, he became the chairman of the Israel Tennis Association. Career Avi Peretz was born in Beersheba, a city in the middle part of Israel. Aviezer "Avi" Pazner (Hebrew: אבי פזנר, born 9 June 1937) is a retired Israeli diplomat and former World Chairman of Keren Hayesod - United Israel Appeal. Biography Avi Pazner was born in the Free City of Danzig (now Gdańsk). His father was Chaim Pazner, the Jewish Agency representative in Geneva, Switzerland during World War II, who rescued Jews from Nazi-occupied Europe and Regina (Gini) née Erlanger from Lucerne, Switzerland.
