Australia Men's National Basketball Team
The Australia men's national basketball team, nicknamed the Boomers after the slang term for a male kangaroo, represents Australia in international basketball competition. Since the late 1980s, Australia has placed among the world elite teams, as the Boomers have reached the semi-finals at both Summer Olympic Games and FIBA World Cup on many occasions. Originally a member of the FIBA Oceania region, Australia nowadays competes at the FIBA Asia Cup where the Boomers were the dominant team at their first appearance. The FIBA Oceania Championship mostly consisted of a three-match competition against the other regional power, the New Zealand Tall Blacks. Adam Caporn
Adam Caporn (born 16 March 1982) is an Australian basketball coach and former player. He is an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Saint Mary's Gaels men's basketball, Saint Mary's Gaels before playing six seasons in the National Basketball League (Australia), National Basketball League between 2003 and 2009, three with the Illawarra Hawks, Wollongong Hawks and three for the Perth Wildcats. The 2015 FIBA Oceania Championship for Men was the 22nd edition of the FIBA Oceania Championship. The tournament featured a two-game series between Australia and New Zealand. It also served as the qualifying tournament of FIBA Oceania for basketball at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
