Auditor General For Scotland
The auditor general for Scotland (AGS) is the public official in charge of the Audit Scotland, the body responsible for auditing most of Scottish public bodies, except local authorities. The auditor general oversees the scrutiny of how public money is spent by the directorates of the Scottish Government, government agencies, NHS Scotland, further education colleges and most Non Departmental Public Bodies. The current auditor general is Stephen Boyle. Overview The auditor general is a statutory appointment made by the Crown, on the recommendation of the Scottish Parliament. The post was created under section 69 of the Scotland Act 1998. The Scottish Police Authority (SPA), (), is a public body of the UK Government which holds Police Scotland, the national police service, to account. Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body
The Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body (SPCB) is a body of the Scottish Parliament responsible for the administration of the parliament. It also has a role in provision of services to commissioners and other statutory appointments made by the parliament. Role The SPCB is established by section 21 of, and schedule 2 to, the Scotland Act 1998, but it was left to the Scottish Parliament to decide how the SPCB operates. The SPCB considers and makes decisions on a wide range of issues to do with the running of the parliament including the property, staff and resources that the parliament requires in order to operate. Caroline Gardner
Caroline Jane Gardner was the Auditor General for Scotland between June 2012 and July 2020. She is a former president of Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) 2006−7. Career Gardiner is originally from London. She studied for her CIPFA exams while working as a trainee accountant at the Wolverhampton Borough council. She moved to Edinburgh in 1995, taking up the post of director of health and social work studies at the Accounts Commission. When Audit Scotland was created in 2000, she became the deputy auditor general. She was a member of the CIPFA Council since 2000. She was the chair of CIPFA in Scotland in 2001−2002. Scottish Fire And Rescue Service
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is the national fire and rescue service of Scotland. It was formed by the merger of eight regional fire services in the country on 1 April 2013. It thus became the largest fire brigade in the United Kingdom, surpassing the London Fire Brigade. The force was established as a result of the passing of Scottish Government legislation.
