Athletics At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's High Jump
The women's high jump event at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place between August 18–20, at the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange, Olympic Stadium. Summary There were 17 athletes who made the final. The height of 1.93 proved to be the undoing for five of them, even though all of them had cleared 1.94 in qualifying the day earlier. Among the non-qualifiers were 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Women's high jump, World indoor Champion Vashti Cunningham and 2016 European Athletics Championships – Women's high jump, European silver medalist Airinė Palšytė. Eight more were excised at 1.97 m, leaving the medalists plus one extra. Waving her fingers at the bar before she jumped, 37 year old Ruth Beitia remained perfect to that point. Yelena Slesarenko
Yelena Vladimirovna Slesarenko, née Sivushenko (; born February 28, 1982, in Volgograd) is a Russian high jumper. Largely unknown before 2004, she kick started the season by clearing 2.04 metres and winning the World Indoor Championships. When the outdoor season started she won the SPAR European Cup with the same result, improving her personal best from 1.97 (achieved in 2002). She continued her good form at the 2004 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal with a new national and personal record of 2.06 metres, beating the previous Olympic record, set by Stefka Kostadinova in 1996. After clearing 2.06 she made decent attempts at 2.10, which would have been a world record. She rounded off the season by winning the World Athletics Final. Kamila Lićwinko
Kamila Lićwinko (née Stepaniuk; born 22 March 1986) is a Polish retired track and field athlete who specialized in the high jump. International Her personal bests in the event are 1.99 metres outdoors (2013, 2015, 2016) and 2.02 metres indoors (2015). Both are current Polish national records. She won the gold medal at the 2014 World Indoor Championship ex aequo with Mariya Kuchina. Alessia Trost
Alessia Trost (born 8 March 1993) is an Italian female high jumper. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in High jump. She won the 2009 World Youth Championship in Athletics in Bressanone. She was the bronze medallist at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships. Biography Trost also won the Italian Youth Championship in 2008. At the first Youth Olympics 2010 she won a silver medal clearing 1.86 metres, to finish second behind Russia′s Mariya Kuchina. Sofie Skoog
Sofie Natalie Skoog (born 7 June 1990) is a Swedish high jumper. She represented her nation Sweden at the 2015 IAAF World Championships, and at the 2016 Summer Olympics, finishing seventh in the final round of the women's high jump. Skoog currently trains as a member of the track and field squad for IF Göta Karlstad, under the tutelage of her coach Stefan Holm, a former high jumper and Athens 2004 champion. Levern Donaline Spencer, SLC SLMM (born 23 June 1984 in Cacao Babonneau, Castries ) is a Saint Lucian retired athlete and high jumper. Spencer was a four-time Olympian for Saint Lucia and competed in eight World Championships. She was also a gold medalist at both the Commonwealth Games and Pan-American Games. Svetlana Mikhaylovna Radzivil (; born 17 January 1987 in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR) is an Uzbekistani high jumper. She is among Asia's top female high jumpers. Inika McPherson (born September 29, 1986, in Port Arthur, Texas) is an American track and field athlete specializing in the high jump. She was the 2013 US Indoor champion. During her career, McPherson has been issued with two, separate anti-doping violation competition bans.
