Stadio Olimpico (; ), colloquially known as l'Olimpico (The Olympic), is an Italy, Italian Multi-purpose stadium, multi-purpose sports venue located in Rome. The shot put at the Summer Olympics is one of four track and field throwing events held at the multi-sport event. The men's shot put has been present on the Olympic athletics programme since 1896 (one of two throws events at the first Olympics, alongside the discus). The women's event was added to the programme at the 1948 Olympics just over fifty years later. The Olympic record for the women's event was set by the East German Ilona Slupianek with a put of in 1980, and the record for the men's event of was set by the American Ryan Crouser in 2021. Suzanne Allday-Goodison née Farmer (26 November 1934 – 26 July 2017) was an English discus thrower and shot putter who represented Great Britain at three Summer Olympics in 1952, 1956 and 1960. Biography Farmer was born in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex and was affiliated with the Brighton Ladies Athletic Club and the Spartan Ladies Athletic Club during her career. Farmer finished second behind Bevis Shergold in the discus throw event and third behind Shergold in the shot put event at the 1951 WAAA Championships. Farmer became the national discus champion for the first time after winning the British WAAA Championships title at the 1952 WAAA Championships and duly retained the title at the 1953 WAAA Championships.
