The men's javelin throw was one of six throwing events on the Athletics at the 1908 Summer Olympics programme in London. The Javelin throw, javelin was required to be held in the middle. Eric Lemming
Eric Otto Valdemar Lemming (22 February 1880 – 5 June 1930) was a Swedish track and field athlete who competed at the 1900 Summer Olympics, 1900, 1906 Summer Olympics, 1906, 1908 Summer Olympics, 1908 and 1912 Summer Olympics, 1912 Olympics in a wide variety of events, which mostly involved throwing and jumping. He had his best results in the javelin throw, which he won at the 1906–1912 Games, and in which he set multiple world records between 1899 and 1912. Johan Valdemar "Juho" Halme (born Johan Valdemar Eliasson; 24 May 1888 – 1 February 1918) was a Finnish track and field athlete who competed in the 1908 and 1912 Summer Olympics and won six Finnish championships in various events in 1907–1916. Karl Hugo Wieslander (11 June 1889 – 24 May 1976) was a Swedish athlete. He set the inaugural world record in the pentathlon in Gothenburg in 1911 with a score of 5516 points. Leonard Francis Tremeer (1 August 1874 – 21 October 1951), known as Jimmy Tremeer, was an Olympic bronze medallist in the men's 400 metres hurdles at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Ernest Edmund Bedford May (14 September 1878 Bartlow, Cambridgeshire – 5 January 1952) was a British track and field athlete who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics. Biography May, born in Cambridgeshire, attended Haileybury School and Oriel College, Oxford. He finished runner-up behind Tom Kiely at the 1901 AAA Championships and repeated the success twice more, starting the following year at the 1902 AAA Championships (behind Kiely again) and the 1903 AAA Championships (behind Tom Nicolson). John Johansen (athlete)
John Johansen (26 February 1883 – 15 October 1947) was a Norwegian sprinter. Participating at the 1908 Summer Olympics, Johansen placed second in his first round 100 metres heat with a time of 11.7 seconds. His loss to Robert Cloughen, who had run the course in 11.0 seconds, resulted in Johansen's elimination from competition. Johansen also competed in the javelin throw and freestyle javelin throw events, albeit with unknown results. He became Norwegian champion in 100 metres in 1906 and 1909. Jarl Gustaf Anian Jakobsson (11 May 1880 – 28 December 1951) was a Finnish track and field athlete who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics. Athletics Jarl Jakobsson, with his brother Evert, emerged as javelin specialists in the summer of 1906. Their success was based on an alteration on the grip of the javelin. They had stapled two bits of stiff cord on it, improving its support for fingers. The existing world record for two handed javelin throw by Eric Lemming was 91.28 metres, but with their enhancement, Jarl broke it with 91.41 metres. It was then improved by Evert to 98.47, followed by Lemming imitating their grip and taking back the record with 104.40 metres. Evert Brynolf Jakobsson (16 February 1886 – 16 July 1960) was a Finnish javelin thrower who competed at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Athletics Evert Jakobsson, with his brother Jarl, emerged as javelin specialists in the summer of 1906. Their success was based on an alteration on the grip of the javelin.
