Athletics At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Triple Jump
The men's triple jump event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place between 3 and 5 August 2021 at the Japan National Stadium. Approximately 35 athletes were expected to compete; the exact number was dependent on how many nations use universality places to enter athletes in addition to the 32 qualifying through time or ranking (2 universality places were used in 2016). 32 athletes from 19 nations competed. Pedro Pichardo of Portugal won the gold medal, the nation's second victory in the men's triple jump (after Nelson Évora in 2008). China's Zhu Yaming took silver, while Hugues Fabrice Zango earned Burkina Faso's first Olympic medal in any event. Summary Defending champion Christian Taylor (the #2 jumper of all time) did not participate due to injury, nor did 2016 bronze medalist Dong Bin. The Japan National Stadium, officially the , alternatively , and a.k.a. formerly is a multi-purpose stadium used mostly for association football in Kasumigaokamachi, Kasumigaoka, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. Yasser Triki
Yasser Mohamed Tahar Triki, (; born 24 March 1997) is an Algerian athlete competing in the long jump and triple jump. He won the silver medal in the long jump at the 2017 Summer Universiade. Triki broke the Algerian record in the triple jump with 17.31 meters achieved in Algiers meeting on 4 June 2021, thus qualifying to the 2020 Summer Olympics. In June 2021, he won the gold medals in both long jump and triple jump at the 2021 Arab Athletics Championships held in Tunis with jumps of 7.96 meters and 17.26 meters, respectively. Jordan Alejandro Díaz Fortún (born 23 February 2001) is a Cuban-born Spanish triple jumper. At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, he won a gold medal with a jump of 17.86 m. Career He won the gold medal at the 2017 World Youth Championships, the 2018 World U20 Championships, the 2018 NACAC Championships, the silver medal at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games and won the gold medal at the Youth Olympic Games in 2018.
