Athletics At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's Javelin Throw
The Women's javelin throw competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom. The event was held at the Olympic Stadium on 7–9 August. Each athlete receives three throws in the qualifying round. All who achieve the qualifying distance progress to the final. If less than twelve athletes achieve this mark, then the twelve furthest throwing athletes reach the final. Each finalist is allowed three throws in last round, with the top eight athletes after that point being given three further attempts. The qualifying round was mostly automatic marks. Eight athletes hit the auto mark in their first legal attempt. It took 60.11 to make the final. The final was dominated by defending champion and world record holder Barbora Špotáková who took the lead on the first throw of the competition, a lead she would never relinquish. Lü Huihui (; born 26 June 1989) is a Chinese athlete who competes in the javelin throw. She won the silver medal at the 2015 World Championships and bronze medals at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships. A late-bloomer in the event, she did not throw beyond fifty metres until her twenties, but broke the Asian record for the event in 2012 with a mark of 64.95 m. Kimberley Mickle (born 28 December 1984) is an Australian track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. Her personal best of 66.83 m, achieved on 22 March 2014 in Melbourne, was, until 2018, the Australian record. Biography She won the gold medal at the 2001 World Youth Championships. is a Japanese track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. She made her first impact as a junior in 2004 by winning the bronze medal at the Asian Junior Athletics Championships.
