2010 Commonwealth Games
The 2010 Commonwealth Games (Hindi: 2010 राष्ट्रमण्डल खेल), officially known as the XIX Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Delhi 2010, was an international multi-sport event that was held in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010. A total of 4352 athletes from 71 Commonwealth nations and dependencies competed in 21 sports and 272 events, making it the largest Commonwealth Games to date. It was also the largest international multi-sport event to be staged in Delhi and India, eclipsing the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982. The opening and closing ceremonies were held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main stadium of the event. It was the first time that the Commonwealth Games were held in India and the second time they were held in Asia after Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998. Emanuele Tusitatino Taulol Fuamatu (born 27 October 1989) is a Samoan athlete. He competed for Samoa in shot put at the 2012 Summer Olympics where he did not advance to the final. Fuamatu competed for Australia at the 2005 IAAF World Youth Championships, 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships, and the 2008 IAAF World Junior Championships. Fuamatu was a recipient of the International Olympic Committee Solidarity Scholarship. He holds the current Male NSW Under 16, Under 18, Under 20, and Open Shot Put Records. He is the current Oceania and Australian Champion in the Men's Shot Put. Emanuele Fuamatu won the Shot Put in the Australian Junior Championships in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Ryan Paul Jones (born 13 March 1981) is a Wales former international rugby union player who played at number eight, blindside flanker or second row. He was involved in three Grand Slam wins, in 2005, as captain in 2008, and 2012. He is one of a small group of Welsh players to have won three Grand Slams including Gerald Davies, Gareth Edwards, JPR Williams, Adam Jones, Gethin Jenkins and Alun Wyn Jones. Sourabh Vij (born 14 June 1987) is an Indian shot putter. He won gold at the second Commonwealth Youth Games. In 2006 he won an Asian Junior silver medal and represented India at the 2006 World Junior Championships in Athletics. After appearances at the Asian Indoor Games, he came to prominence in 2010 with an unratified national record-beating throw of 20.65 metres. Second place at the national championships guaranteed him a spot at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in his hometown of New Delhi. His test from the championships came back positive for the banned substance methylhexaneamine, however, and he was banned from competition, missing the Games. Scott Rider
Scott Rider (born 22 September 1977) is a British bobsledder, shot putter and Highland games competitor. Biography Rider joined the British bobsleigh team in 2000, and he competed in the four man event at the 2002 Winter Olympics, where he and his team-mates finished 11th. In shot putting, Rider represented England at three Commonwealth Games, in 2006, 2010 and 2014, finishing in the top ten in all three tournaments. He was also British outdoor champion in the shot put in 2014 and British indoor champion in 2003 and 2013. He is a member of Birchfield Harriers athletics club. Om Prakash Singh Karhana (born 11 January 1987) is an Indian shot putter. He trains at the Salwan Throws Academy, where he first began to learn how to shot put, and is supported by Olympic Gold Quest, a not-for-profit foundation to identify and support Indian athletes. He was originally a basketball player, but was approached by Lalit Bhanot, secretary of the Athletics Federation of India, to consider switching to the shot put. Om Prakash Karhana holds the Indian national record in shot put at 20.69 meters which he achieved in May 2012 at Szombathely, Hungary and he qualified for and competed at the 2012 London Olympics.
