Long Jump
The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". This event has a history in the ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympic event for men since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948. Rules At the elite level, competitors run down a runway (usually coated with the same All-weather running track, rubberized surface as running tracks, crumb rubber or vulcanized rubber, known generally as an all-weather track) and jump as far as they can from a wooden or synthetic board, 20 centimetres or 8 inches wide, that is built flush with the runway, into a pit filled with soft damp sand. If the competitor starts the leap with any part of the foot past the foul line, the jump is declared a foul and no distance is recorded. ...

Marijo Baković
Marijo Baković (born 11 April 1982) is a retired Croatian long jumper. He finished seventh at the 1999 World Youth Championships in Athletics, 1999 World Youth Championships and eleventh at the Athletics at the 2001 Summer Universiade, 2001 Summer Universiade. He also competed at the 2002 European Indoor Championships in Athletics, 2002 European Indoor Championships and the Athletics at the 2005 Summer Universiade, 2005 Summer Universiade without reaching the final. Baković became Croatian long jump champion in 2003 and 2004, rivalling with Ivan Pucelj (athlete), Ivan Pucelj. He also became indoor champion in 2001 and 2004. His personal best jump was 7.99 metres, achieved in July 2003 in Tarvisio. Peter John Parsons, (24 September 1936 – 16 November 2022) was a British classicist and academic specialising in papyrology. He was Regius Professor of Greek at the University of Oxford from 1989 to 2003. Early life and education Parsons was born on 24 September 1936 in Surbiton, Surrey, England, to Robert John Parsons and Ethel Ada (née Frary). He was educated at Raynes Park County Grammar School, an all-boys grammar school in Wimbledon, London. He sat the Oxford entrance examination in December 1953, and his success meant he was the first in his family to attend university. Mesut Yavaş (born 14 April 1978) is a Turkish athlete. He competed in the men's long jump at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He achieved the Turkish indoor record in the long jump in March 2000, jumping 8.09 metres in Ames, Iowa. In the summer he jumped 8.08 metres in Istanbul, setting a Turkish outdoor record. In the same year he finished second at the Balkan Championships, and took his sole Turkish championship. Yavaş won the Balkan Championships in 2001.
