Olympic Stadium (Rome)
Stadio Olimpico (; ), colloquially known as l'Olimpico (The Olympic), is an Italy, Italian Multi-purpose stadium, multi-purpose sports venue located in Rome. Seating over 70,000 spectators, it is the largest sports facility in Rome and List of football stadiums in Italy, the second-largest in Italy, after Milan, Milans San Siro. It formerly had a capacity of over 100,000 people, and was also called Stadio dei Centomila (Stadium of the 100,000). It is owned by Sport e Salute, a State-owned enterprise, government agency that manages sports venues, and its operator is the Italian National Olympic Committee. The Olimpico is located in northwestern Rome in the Foro Italico sports complex. Construction began in 1928 under Enrico Del Debbio and the venue was expanded in 1937 by Luigi Moretti. Ranjit Bhatia
Ranjit Bhatia (27 May 1936 – 9 February 2014) was an Indian athlete and journalist who ran in the marathon and 5000 meters events at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. Biography Ranjit Bhatia was born on 27 May 1936. He studied at the Lawrence School, Sanawar. He then attended Oxford University as a Rhodes scholar, matriculating from Jesus College in 1957. Bhatia was an active athlete, both at Oxford (awarded a Blue) as well as a member of the Belgrave Harriers. He participated in the 1960 Rome Olympics, coming 60th in the marathon and participating in heats of the 5000 metres race. Following a long battle with Parkinson's disease, Bhatia died on 9 February 2014 in Delhi. Career Following his graduation from Oxford, Ranjit Bhatia returned to India. In 1960, he joined St. Stephen's College, Delhi to teach Mathematics. He remained there until his retirement as Reader. He was a sports writer and presenter. Douglas Kyle (July 22, 1932 – August 27, 2023) was a Canadian long-distance runner from Toronto, Ontario. He represented Canada at the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics. As a resident of Calgary, Alberta he won the silver medal in the men's 10,000 metres event at the 1959 Pan American Games, and the bronze in the 5,000 metres. Allan Cleave Evan Lawrence (9 July 1930 – 15 May 2017) was an Australian long-distance runner. He won a bronze medal for Australia in the Athletics at the 1956 Summer Olympics, 1956 Summer Olympics. Sándor Iharos (10 March 1930 – 24 January 1996) was a Hungary, Hungarian long-distance runner.
